Howa carbon stalker

Looks neat, I'd love a short barreled Grendel. Get some irons installed, maybe a peep and a scout mount. I especially love how under the "Lengths" heading they list the weights instead.

Doesn't look like anyone has stock yet.

Yea i have a Howa MINI 1500 6.5 G with the std 22" barrel - The stock is HEAVY ! I would like one of those stocks for mine ! RJ

I just contacted them through their website to see if they would offer the stocks by themselves, maybe if every existing Mini owner did the same we may get some action, lol.

That stock sounds very cool. I wonder if stockies will make them with different inlets in the polymer bedding block.

Will be interesting to see if this and the kimber honey comb take off in synthetic stocks.

I think future generations will look at these spiderweb and neon camo straight pistol grips and negative combs with the same confused derision I look at high gloss roll over comb, rosewood cap square fore end rifle.

Is it a stanag pattern mag on the mini?

Nope, proprietary...and they are cheap junk. Owned a couple of Howa minis, great little rifles with ####ty and overpriced mags and brittle plastic bottom metal/magwells.
Good news is there are hinged floorplates, bottom metal upgrades and magazine upgrades available from small companies stateside that realize they are great rifles with a couple of shortcomings and address the issues that Howa should have fixed.

Needs bottom metal that accepts stanag pattern

As long as its aftermarket and not factory, seems like the boys at the lab are interested in bolt action .223s these days.

What bolt action 223 rifles have been prohibited?

I am looking for caliber conversion ability, the stanag compatibility makes sense for that. I am not interested in a 223

Waiting for the bison in 300lk to rechamber, but the howa is interesting because of weight

Kodiak Defense recently had a design they submitted to the lab receive prohibited status. It was a bolt action .223 that had a look similar to an AR-15. I don't think it had any compatibility with the AR-15, it just shared a familiar appearance.

Got any pics of this rifle?
What caused it to have to go to the lab before sale? That is not normal sop for manufacturers bringing bolt action rifles to market in canada

This is the only picture going around and it's not really clear to see but the receiver halves are "stepped" so they are incompatible with the AR-15. Similar idea to the way as the ATRS rifles receivers were stepped for incompatibility.

As to why they sent it for inspection? I wouldn't have the slightest idea why they would do that.
