Doubtful. It has been said and witnessed that super lightly constructed bullets can literally come apart in the air due to over rotation. But the bullets today rarely suffer such a fate. Cheap bulk bullets designed for 1:14" original M16 twists (later changed to 1:12") sent down a 1:7" barrel MAY come apart if the quality is not there, but like I said, it is doubtful.

if you dont need to shoot over 55 gr, you will have not issues stabilizing and will get better velocity with a 12"
If thats all you plan to shoot then go with the 1-12 "
I have one and it shoots every weight up to and including 60 gr. very well perhaps because nobody told it that it couldn't.
However mine isn't a new Vanguard.
Years ago actually decades, I hunted coyotes with a 788 Remington in 223 and it had a 1-14" twist.
Its two best sub-MOA loads were a 55gr. any brand bullet over 27.9 gr. W-748 and its other load was a 60 gr. Sierra over 28.0 gr. H380 powder.
These two loads accounted for enough coyotes to pay for my first snowmoblie.
In theory and according to everything you read that 788 should not have handled those loads at all to any degree of accuracy..
Would I buy a 223 with a 1-12" twist for 55 gr. and under..... I'm gonna start looking for one right now.
Well I just bought the combo from PRF. I probably won't be able to get out shooting until Labour Day, but I'll let you guys know how it performs then.

Reading through the paper with break-in procedures for the gun I had no idea you were supposed to do that in such a specific way. It came with a paper telling me to fire a shot then clean it thoroughly before firing another for the first 10, then do this again in between every 2 shots for the next 10. This is the 3rd gun I've ever bought new, and neither of the other 2 were centrefire rifles.
