Howa Mini 223 vs BCL Bison

No experience with the Howa or BCL unfortunately, but I've had a couple nicer bolt action .223s...

Had a CZ 527 Varmint Kevlar that was OK, mostly a pretty big CZ fan, but the 527 was just OK. Great deal when they could be had for around $1000 with the kevlar stock. Accuracy was great, but I didn't end up liking the mini mauser action as much as I thought I would. Was mostly shooting semi's at the time so I sold it.

Have since purchased a Tikka CTR in .223... Like this one quite a bit more than I ever liked the CZ 527. Great trigger, tikka action is smooth and fast, 10 Round mags are great (but $$$, glad I found a couple used), stock is cheap plastic but actually fits ok with the little bit of a cheek riser and a scope mounted as low as possible. Light enough to carry around but the medium profile barrel still provides great accuracy. Short of going to a custom build this would probably be my choice for .223 if I had to buy one again tomorrow.

cz 600 trail rifles, post recall versions, seem to be finally showing up on euro youtube channels - so hopefully we'll see them too

I had a Bison in 5.56, trigger was great ran AR and their own mags just fine. Found handloaded 55 grain rounds were pretty accurate. Had ejector issues but BCL sent out a new part immediately cannot say enough about their service nice being Canadian. I was offered a fair dollar for my Bison so sold it and bought a Glock before the ban. All in all while heavy, the platform is very robust unlike all the cheap plastic rifles out there. The platform is so customizable and can be modded to suit any individual.

It is not a bench gun but does what is expected of it just fine.

I just bought a Bison 12.5 inch and in my opinion the trigger is exceptional. They now ship with their 20 round proprietary mag. I was at the range using Remington UMC 55 grain and shot 50 rounds. No issues at all with it. I have a 3X Primary Arms micro prism mounted on it and I can not complain about the accuracy. Its a fun gun. I am looking forward to getting the Bronco 9.5 inch.

I had the Howa mini in 222 Rem. The action was good and was accurate enough for me but I didn't like the box magazine and didn't bother getting a different system so sold it and purchased the Ruger American ranch in 5.56. I was amazed on how well this rifle shot with different ammo and took little time to dial it in for coyote season.

I have a CZ 600 Trail, fun little gun but it has some issues. It won't take aluminum or steel mags unless you file the magazine catch slot at the rear. Mlok handguard is so close to the barrel you have to grind screws down. The pistol grip uses a non standard AR grip screw.

Otherwise it is a light accurate compact rifle with a good trigger.
