howa mini mag

looking for a spare howa mini mag in 7.62x39. anyone seen anything around ? they seem to be non existant

Those mags and the non-existent availability of them was the the 2nd reason I sold my Howa 7.62x39 without even firing it. I bought a CZ527 instead. Happy guy now. :)

The 1st reason was the mag latch was situated such that is was very easy to drop a mag out by mistake and without knowing about it. I dropped a mag on the floor the 1st time I picked up the rifle.

I'd look for an aftermarket replacement bottom that rectifies this.

Yes the factory mag setup is absolute garbage in my opinion. Oregun gunsmithing bottom metal is the way to go.

It's an absolute game changer if you actually want to hunt and carry the rifle. Even off the bench it's a million times better. I was dropping mags all the time just shifting the gun against sand bags when target practicing. Horrible plastic factory setup.

This is Jefferson Outdoors bottom metal which I also would highly recommend if they are producing it.

Nice conversion .... I'd rather have something like that for my CZ as well.

Though the CZ mag system is far better then the Howa, I really do not like a big magazine hanging down where I would normally be carrying the rifle.

The CZ would be the ultimate mini action if it had a hinged floor plate. IMHO.

Holy cow, that's nice!

I emailed Oregun to see if they'll ship to Canada. No reply yet

That could be a problem. It might have to be imported through someone like Prophet River or IRG which will of course drive the cost up quite a bit. Hopefully they just ship directly to Canada. I'm thinking of buying a Carbon Stalker in 6.5 Grendel so I'll be after another hinged floor plate conversion if I do.

I came across Kinney's Shooting supplies in the states has a Howa mini metal mag well trigger guard with an improved system and they do ship to Canada. I was going to purchase one for my rifle, however I sold my rifle for another rifle.
