Howa Rifles

I'm looking into Howa for my next rifle, i was wondering if anyone has some info on these guys and how their rifles perform.

I can't seem to find a dealer in Alberta but found Caldwell Ind co Ltd. out of vancouver but their website is down right now.

Any info apperciated

The Rem 798 is a totally different rifle than the Howa.

The Howa 1500/1700 was also the Mossberg 1500/1700 and the Smith & Wesson 1500/1700, as well as being sold as the Weatherby Vanguard since 1972.

A good reason for me to buy a Howa over a Vanguard is the goofy long bolt shroud on the Vanguard and the big S & F letters on it. The Howa has a simpler bolt plug arrangement...more like a Rem 700

And I see the Howa has a new 3 position safety...wonder if this will be used on the Vanguard?

Friend of mine in England (yes, there are a few gun owners and hunters left there) has one, varmint model in 243. A little bedding, a little trigger work, thing shoots very, very well. - dan
