Howa Varminters

Anyone have any experience with the Howa line of varmint rifles?

I believe that the Howa with an Axiom stock is what the guy on Predator Quest on Wild TV uses. Have been looking at one myself and they seem to have a good rep.

I like the fact that 243 is offered, making it a deer rifle as well as a dog gun. Just not sold on the accuracy potential of that round. Prices seem right.

I put 3 into a 30 cal hole , @ 100M if that helps

Factory ammo? Either way, good news, as that is the round I am kind of looking at. Does anyone know the twist that is preffered for that round, and what Howa has for the 243? Thanks for all the replies, certainly steering me that way.

I can't remember where I found it but the barrel twist in the Howa .243 Win is 1:10. That twist will handle hunting bullets up to and including 100 grains, maybe 105 grains depending on the rifle. Match bullets (Berger) up to 90 grains.

Howa makes the Weatherby Vanguard. If that means anything. Howa's are pretty good rifles.

I got to hunt with Les Johnson (Predator Quest) on My ranch, I never shot his gun but I held it. It felt great but the price range is way too high for a coyote gun.
