Howa

Howa 1500 stainless in 7 Rem Mag here. Sighted in at 200 yards. MOA most days. Better when I am.

Nice to carry. Fits me perfectly.

Sorry to be blunt but the Savage Axis has always been considered an entry level gun. The Rem 700 is a good series but I have had both and prefer the Howa.

I think either the Rem 700 or the Howa 1500 is a good choice.

I'm an odd ball and I prefer the Remington 700. Not by much however. There are parts from the Howa/Vangaurd that I like better, such as the three position safety, but overall, I like the 700's better.

The Howa is just heavy. Toss on a B&C stock and its one heavy sporting rifle. Thats the only down side. I own the Vanguard S2 in 308.

Savage 111 is good too. I wouldn't buy an Axis. The downside with the 111 XP is its impossible to replace the cheap Savage stock to something more decent.

M700 is so hit and miss with quality. Its a crap shoot on getting a decent one.

Just a question for you guys about the 700's, how many have owned or been around a new one long term? The majority of my firearms just happen to be Remington. I have had one problem with a tiny spring on my 597. I'd be willing to.bet that most of you are just repeating what's been repeated just to repeat it without actually having first hand knowledge of any of it.

Tell me of another mass produced product that is as good. You think the all magic Tikka's and Sako's are as good as the used to be? Not a chance.

Savage makes some junk, but they make some great fries as well. In every brand you will get lemons off the line.

Yo Imma let you finish but the vanguard is the greatest entry level rifle of all time. Of all time!

*kanye*

I have 2 vanguards, looking at getting a third.

Are they the beat triggers out there? Nope. But they aren't that bad either. They are better than the factory Vangaurd S2 triggers. I say this with personal experience as I own both rifles.

Picks mic back up.......

They're bad enough to be the key issue in multiple lawsuits, deaths, recalls, and tv specials
Plus remington went bankrupt.

I mean, the sks I used to own had a bad trigger, but it wasn't implicated in two dozen accidental deaths.

Ok, and how long ago and how many designs? Everyone else is talking the modern current crop and you want to bring that in like a ex girlfriend? So I will reiterate my question to you, do you own or have extensive first hand experience or are you just talking out of your behind?

opinion on a HOWA? vs savage axis vs Rem 700?

heavy :D

lol- nice an cheap, well built alot of steel, i think out the weatherby factory other end??? might be wrong..... weigh a bit though, good for hunting, stand hunting , truck hunting and general shooting / spotlighting.... not my ideal walk about.

My pick would be the Howa out of the three rifles suggested. I own two Vanguards and sure there a bit heavy compared to other rifles with plastic stocks. But there well built, and won't break your bank account.

I have Remington, Savage and Weatherby. To he fair, I wouldn't buy a low end Axis, but a 10/11/14 series Savage I would for sure. My Savage 10 is arguably my most accurate gun, but they are not a pretty gun. If axis is tge Savage entry then I would also vite Howa/Weatherby but my Weatherby is also the heaviest

So I will reiterate my question to you, do you own or have extensive first hand experience or are you just talking out of your behind?

I have owned howa and currently own a rem700. Much more trigger time on the rem700 vs the howa.
Sorry, I didn't realize I was talking out of my behind for citing a massive recall and lawsuits against remington, when your single experience is akin to the word of god.

I was asking a question as to how much experience you had. Never once did I say that I had more than you, or anyone. Great, you have experience with both. Now answer the questions about the current triggers, that are actually better than the Vangaurd. Less over travel, less creep, crisper break. Can both be improved? Without question. Out of the box which one is actually a better trigger?
