Hey guys n gals I'm totally new to this site and this is my first post. I'm fairly new inot the gun scene and have to sayu I love ot. I wish I could have one of everything. .aybe one day. I'm looking at gettoing a new rifle and the local gun shop showed me a howa m1500. I liked how the gun felt in the hands. My question for you is
Are these reloiableguns? How do they shoot. Any info any one has on quality of these rifles wpould be helpful .

Thanx

They are very good rifles, as a matter of fact the weatherby vanguard is simply a re-badged Howa 1500. Do A search on the weatherby's and see how well liked they are!

Howa rifles

You cannot go wrong buying a Howa. There are small differences between Howa and Weatherby rifles (stocks, safety type, etc), but both are now made by Howa in Japan. I own two Howas and one Weatherby. Stock types for new Howa rifles are either a low-grade synthetic or Hogue (rubberized feel and costs more). Depending upon the calibre and price, you may just want to by a Weatherby Vanguard (synthetic). Not many dealers carry them (Howas) and replacement parts are hard, if not impossible, to get for Howa rifles. You can still get Howa rifles in stainless steel too.

I own a Vanguard 300 Win Mag. Good rifle. My go-to gun for most of my hunting.

One thing I learned a few years back was that Weatherby gives excellent service. There's a safety recall for the bolt shrouds on a specific range of serial nos for older ones. They took care of it for me pronto!

If anyone happens to own a Vanguard, check it out against the following recall notice, pretty important stuff...

Love my Weatherby Vanguard/Howa 1500 although I could not stand the crap trigger. I have read that a good smith can work the triggers to an acceptable level. I just replaced mine with a Timney and love it. These rifles are well built and should not be over looked.
