I am curious about Howa firearms specifically the Howa Lightning chambered in 25 06. I can't find much info about this model. Anyone have any experience with the Howa in this model. I checked the Howa web site and found nothing. Is this a model which has been replaced by the Hogue or simply a model which has been dropped from their line ?
Thanks

The Lightning rifles are not advertised products, but still available.

Only made in black stocks and 22" barrels for standard calibers and 24" barrels for magnum calibers. I think that pricing in the pic is old dealer pricing for the states. These guys MSRP around $699 CDN.

The gun is the same as any Howa, the lightning has a hard nylon/plastic whatever stock shaped the same as the Hogue overmold, just without the rubber overmold. They are decent stocks, have one on a 223 and I like it better then the Hogue overmolds.
They made some camo versions as well.

I've owned a Lightning SS/Hogue .300winmag for over 10 years. It is one of my best shooting rifles. They are built like a tank. I've NEVER ever worried about it for a second. It isn't the lightest gun I have in my safe, but it is one of the sturdiest. If I ever saw one in .25-06 , I'd snap it up pretty quick.

You don't see too many for sale on EE for a reason. They are quality, reliable rifles. I own one chambered in 6.5x55 with a nice Hogue overmold stock. I don't know if they're all the same, but mine has deep semi-gloss blueing and excellent metal finishing. It doesn't get much nicer at any price point. Dare I say that I like it as much as my T3's? :)

I started a thread on mine a while ago...

I have a question for anyone that may be able to help. I have a Howa 1500 in 223. Bought used and says Lightning sku is HWR60202. What I am after is the twist rate. I shot it today and I had 55gr PPU, 62gr M855, and some old handloads, 69gr SMK's.

The 55's did about 2" at 100, the 62, about 1" and the 69 SKm under an inch.

I measured the twist rate with a cleaning rod and tape, and I get 1:10. I can't find any info anywhere about Howa's with a 1:10 twist rate. Can anyone help?
