Hi everyone.

I just got my PAL in the mail yesterday and am excited to join this hobby. I only intend to target shoot for now, so my plan is to buy a rifle and join a range. Looking forward to learning and starting my own little collection.

Good stuff getting your PAL. I started out just wanting to shoot high quality air rifles on an indoor range and all these years later I am dressing up once a month to do cowboy action shooting. Didn't see that one coming. Just a tip, save your money and get exactly what you want instead of getting something cheap to make due.

That’s really cool! I’ve always had an interest in cowboy action shooting and could see myself getting into that eventually. Thanks for the tip, I have been flip flopping between buying something cheap just to get something or saving for what I really want. My dad is going to give me an old .22 he has so I’ll use that to keep me going until I can afford a decent lever action.

Howdy fellow noob. Welcome! Find your local range and stop by for a visit. I agree with what IanC mentioned above.

If you’re investing your money into something of quality, with the hopes of long term collecting and usage, is saving a few hundred bucks worth a little sadness every time you open that safe and see you firearm of 2nd choice…

That’s a good point. I’ve done that before with other hobbies and it sucks. I’ll definitely save up for my first choice then. It will take a bit longer but that will also give me more time to do some research and figure out what the first choice even is.

In the mean time try and pick up something else, perhaps comparable, or even completely different, and get out to shoot! Seat time / range time / practice will increase overall comfort and confidence. 👍
