hows this for shooting?

Er - isn't there a fifth hole to the lower right? 4 out of 5 group?
Still fine performance from a hunting rifle.
 
Ya there is one more hole but that shot was taken after the bbr heated up so I didn't count it.
The first 4 shots were with in 1" so ya it is still very good for a standerd stock hunting rifle. I really cant complain! This is also the very first time I had shot this rifle so that makes me even more happy.

what do you mean powder burns? there is a little bit of gray around the holes in the paper but the target was shot at 100 yards it may have been the ammo i was using. 180 gr cor-locks.

All shots in the group count. You can't disregard one shot because the barrel was hot. All five shots are part of the group because this is how your rifle shoots when the barrel is hot.
Now go dry fire it for 1/2 hour every day to help that flinch go away.

even if i had to reload? my rifle only holds 4 rounds. It was also the last round of the day so i just shot it with a hot bbr.
oh by the way i can dry fire a gun all day with out flinching it is only when I have a live round behind the hammer that i flinch. The only reason was when i was younger i got scoped a few times and Im jumpy as the scope comes back at me. I antisipate the scope so i have to try to stop doing that.

Federal cor-locks? - correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Remington make the "Core Lokt's" ??? Isn't Power Shock Federal's cheapo bullet?

yes these are the elcheepo bullets from federal so I really cannot complain with some more preamium bullets i should be able to do allot better with my rifle.

It always makes me smile to watch other hunters siting at a bench at the range...I have never seen a rifle bench in the woods. :D
I was thinking we should set up some stumps at our range for the folks to lay across, brace against, and lean on...real world stuff. :)

Benches are for load testing and confidence building. Pritty much it. :D

Dry firing is not just yanking the trigger. Do everything that you would do if a live round was in the chamber. Breathing, trigger control and follow through. The finger only squeezes the trigger when the sight alinement is perfect. The trigger should break as a surprise. Pull it tight into your shoulder, this will stop the scope from smacking you in the melon. Use ear plugs and muffs. Perfect Practice makes for Perfect Shots. Keep up the good work.
 
i whent out shooting the other day and I did very well I didnt flinch once :D and I hit everything that I was shooting at :) so ya Im getting use to the gun allot more and am starting to realy enjoy shooting it!

It sounds like your doing something correct to obtain those groups,regardless if you flinch or not,In the heat of the moment/moment of truth,you can count on dropping whatever you lay your crosshairs on(recoil will go unoticed).

Good shootin' Riley.

My dad gave me a 308 Savage 99 when I was 7. I used to shoot it at the farm but it kicked the hell out of my bony shoulders. I flinched real bad but I shot it anyways cause it was my gun that dad gave me.

Here's how I got rid of my flinch:

I used to pretend that some SOB (usually "Bob", the guy that ran the local theater) was holding my dog hostage. I had one shot to make to save my dog, or Bob would kill him. I'd steady right up and knew that I had to make that shot, no matter how hard that gun was gonna kick me.

I got Bob. Many times.
