looking into a NEA 15 10.5 or longer. just curious about performance, reliability, ergo's and parts compatibility. I'm ex CF and I'm very familiar with the C-7 platform so it seems like a good fit for civi shooting. any insight in the restricted process would be great too. i only have a non res 590a1 right now.

thanks, courts

I have the patrol carbine model and i have too much fun with it at the range. I've put nearly 500 rounds through it and my only issue was the bolt locked back while I still had ammo in the magazine twice. I lubed the hell out of it and clean it after every use. Now that i feel it is broken in, I run it practically dry and everything is smoother and flawless.

Performance: Sighted in my EOTech for 100 yards and it is deadly accurate against clays on the 50 yard berm. pretty much no recoil, and with the standard muzzle break, its loud to those next to me but theres no muzzle rise.

Reliability: a bunch of sand blew over and i could feel it in every space of the gun, still ran flawless. didn't have any issues when I used it in the rain either.

Ergonomics: well its an AR15.. having the 9" rail and 14.5" barrel, its very balanced, comfortable and badass!

Compatibility: I had some trouble getting my magpul iron sights on, it was a very tight fit but eventually got them on by hand. Eotech mounted just fine. I've changed my grip to an ergo suregrip and i love it. Other than the irons, everything fits on really easy!

Hope this helps! enjoy!

I own one and use it in 3 gun, I have put over 500 rounds through in one day, tried to shoot fast enough to jam it, and run it without lube for 700 rounds or so, all without any issues.

after about1250 ish rounds total now, still runs like a champ, I also own a norinco, but I will be putting a NEA barrel in it when the original is worn out.

and for the couple extra hundred bucks I feel I got a gun worth 1500 EASY, really good value with this gun, I think noveske, vltor (maybe more?) are the only ones doing the angled look on the upper and lower, and I really like that look, very different from standard m4gerys

the barrel is PHENOMINAL, my 7.5 NEA is more accurate then my 14.5, but depending on who you talk to, better accuracy is normal out of a shorter barrel.

long story short

1250 rounds in, no failures, at 750 rnds I did have to tighten a gas block screw, since during strings of "rapid" (as can be with 10 rnd mags in a semi) I got the barrel red hot.

nothing an allen key and 2 minutes couldnt fix, last 500 rounds have not budged the screw a bit.

excellent! thanks guys, i appreciate your responses. i figured with the cost of a heavy barrel and a nice quad rail, the norinco is actually more to do. ( oh and a gas block ). the fact its canadian is a real win for me too! thanks again brothers

i have a vortex spare already with my 590a1 so not much for mods would go on. prob stubby vert grip and magpul mags.

easysauce: would you recommend the 10.5 or 14.5 with 12inch handguard? i won't be shooting much past 100yrds, beyond that will be for my future rem700 tac :)

follow your heart man, I just got what I have because its what I wanted. performance wise, you wont notice a huge difference, on paper, at 100m and a bit past that.

the 7.5's are great little rifles one you get them tuned...

i just dialed in 2 NEA 7.5's last week at the range and ran about 200 rounds through each without any issues. no complaints so far.

I really like mine.

It did have some growing pains...... http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=752947

But after the initial f'in around it has run with-out a hic-cup!

I have 750 ish through since that thread, I'm hopeing for another 200 ish this week (tonight may be my only chance) that is with-out cleaning as well. I don't like to clean my guns, it is a nessecity but I try to put it off as much as I can......

Cheers!

Close to 1000 rounds through mine, 2 multigun matches and a multigun course...not a hiccup.
Actually that isn't entirely true, one hiccup...the day that I received it I replaced the grip and like an idiot I let the safety detent spring go flying in the general direction of my ridiculously cluttered workshop :(. After a futile attempt to find said spring, I emailed NEA telling them I was a tool and needed to purchase a new one. They mailed me a replacement immediately, no charge. Btw a bic lighter spring will work in a pinch if you loose your safety detent spring.
Oh and I found the original spring months later in a coat pocket that was located 180 degrees from the direction I thought the spring went :D

I waited about 2 1/2 months for my 7.5, it was one of the first tho, sub 200 reg #
was throught sfrc nothing but good stuff to say about ryan the the guys there
