I picked up an SR1911 shortly after they came out but have only managed to put 600 rounds through it so far. It's seems quite reliable, considering that's it's just broken in now. Other than the front sight flying off and the gong show of dealing with Snapshots, pretty happy with it.

Curious to hear from the fellas that have put some serious rounds down range.

What's your round count and how's your SR holding up?

ive got both the full sized and the CMD and no problems.
granted i only shoot them at the end of my range day as a treat to myself, so the round count on them isnt high.
and my sites are still on mine, haha!

I think I have about 2500 rounds thru mine and I love the gun, but I've broken off 3 front sights. Apparently they now have one made from one piece of steel and not the MIM ones which didn't hold up. Snapshots sent one out last week so it should be here tomorrow.

sweet jesus man!
you need to pull the trigger so the bullet comes OUT of the gun, not running down range and bludgeoning the target with your pistol!
you'll go through a lot less frong sites if you stop hitting stuff with your gun.

but seriously 3 of them!
holy smokes, now im kinda worried.

Front sight went after, I guess, maybe 1500. Still waiting on the replacement. Shooting a Glock 41 in the meantime :)

Mine has just over 16,000 rounds and still fine. Only significant issue was front sight as you mentioned, mine departed the fix around 10,000 - gave me excuse to spend on Dawson fiber optic. Occasional fail to feeds but I put those against my little reload glitches more so then gun. Couple recoil springs as precaution and different weights for different loads. I have not shot it past year as much as did first two years because last year switched from single stack division of USPSA to limited division with custom 2011.

I have about 4000 rounds through mine and it has been pretty reliable after I finished experimenting with diffent springs. The factory front sight did not break until it got hit with and punch and hammer several times when I was replacing it with a Ruger fiber optic front sight. The slide to frame fit was pretty loose on the right side from day one and maybe it's just me but it seems to be getting worst, but still functions very well. Upgrades include Pachmare grips, ED Brown match trigger, Ed Brown Maxi-Well(I love the snake sin machining on the main spring housing), flat firing pin stop, a 16# wolfe Progressive recoil spring and extra heavy firing pin spring, and the gun is always treated with Frog Lube.

Bought one for my father with a Canada Ammo deal that came with 1000 rounds of Norinco. About 950 rounds into the crate without any significant issues. Only problem we've had so far is the Norinco ammo is super hot and dirty but we are 50 rounds away from finishing the gun's trial by fire haha. (Now to try sourcing more 45 ...)

Seems that the front sights flying off is a fairly common issue, any thoughts on why this part keeps breaking?
I hear folks saying that MIM parts are fine, no worries.........is this the nature of MIM or some other issue?

Around 1k rounds fired throu mine and only 1 front sight snaped. I changed the grips with a set of magpul and added a Wilson Combat magwell. I am not a 1911 fan, but i kinda like the look!

with everyone saying they are breaking their front sites off im kinda thinking about going pro-active on this and ordering a Fiber Optic front site and having it replaced.

shopruger . com shows both the Noval metal front sight and the FO one.
so if they carry it so should the part place in canada.
that photo place in Que, snapshot photo or whatever its called.

Location Snapshot has the new all steel front sight. I think they said it was around $26. They sent mine on warranty and I put it on yesterday, hopefully it's better than the MIM one.

Unless you carry your SR1911 for self defense or using it for competition purpose, i don't see the point of replacing it befor it break.

Mine has seen roughly 4000 rounds through it.
I have replaced the front sight with a fiber optic, replaced the recoil spring with a lighter unit, installed a magwell and had a local gunsmith do a trigger job. The gun simply runs all the time. While the slide to frame fit may not be the tightest, the barrel lockup is and the gun is accurate.
