OK 870 experts!!!

My HP9-1 always pulls the case out of the chamber, but low brass or low steel cases almost never seem to eject. While the ejector itself seems to have a sharp edge to it, the ejector spring doesn't. There is simply a rounded lump at the point where the case should make contact with the ejector.

Should the spring itself have a bit of a ridge to clear the empty, or is this normal.

I had that issue with my HP9-1. It was resolved by changing the extractor to a Remington milled steel one. The HP9-1 extractor has a funky geometry (and is not hardened properly) and does not have enough tension to pull the empty out. The ejector was not the problem, for me anyways.

Mine seems to have good purchase and pulls the case out. Still, It has to be easier to swap out the extractor as an experiment than the ejector.

yeah had same issue with mine, switched to an 870 and had no issues since then.

OK, so I took mine over to ARWEN ACE today. On comparing the ejector and ejector spring, there was enough difference to warrant replacement with Remington parts. The lip on the ejector that surrounds the spring was thinner, and the edge that counts was slightly shallow and rounded. The Ejector spring had more of an inconvienient hump than an edge where the ejector is placed.
