So I got my Norinco 14" in the mail recently and I am pretty happy with it. I just took it out shooting today up in the hills with some buds. Shot a lot of clays and tried a few slugs as well. Cycled smoothly and gave me no troubles. I picked up an Uncle Mike's set of swivel sling mounts (1801-2) with the replacement magazine cap and I ran into a problem. The screw-in mount has threads that are far too course to thread into the buttstock and the magazine cap also will not thread for the same reason. I will return them this week, but I want to know if anybody else has found a product that has the correct thread pitch for the HP9-1. The kit that I got says it's for the 870 and I was under the impression that aftermarket parts were interchangeable. I was hoping to go with the simple swivels, but if they aren't compatible I may have to go for the other style with the metal tabs/slots. If anybody has any suggestions they would be appreciated. Thanks. - D

You also have the option of not using sling swivels at all. Most are made to fit on the bottoms of the firearms so the only thing your sling is good for when attached here is, sling over your shoulder while walking.

If you after a sling that is usable all the time, I can speak further with you about options with the Blue Force Gear slings.

Somebody (Uncle Mike's maybe?) makes a sling swivel kit that requires an easy drill and tap job into the factory magazine cap. I did a couple of my 870's a few years ago with these kits and they work very well, and believe me, I'm no gunsmith.

Uncle Mike's has swivel kits that just replace the mag cap(which is a whole lot faster than a drill and tap-not hard, but for basically the same money, not worth the bother).

Seriously dude, go to Farmboy and let him hook you up with his slings and Simon's sling plate.

I have been checking out that site, and I am starting to lean that way, possibly towards the breacher's sling with the single point sling mount. I would like a front sling mount as well though, so that I have the option of a traditional sling over my shoulder, on my back.

He says in his post that he already tried that and had problems. Otherwise, I totally agree that it wouldn't be worth the hassle.

You might not want these short shotguns slung on your back, as the muzzle would be below the back of your head...unless of course you mounted it so the shotgun would be carried muzzle down.

Touche...my bad...I don't know where my mind was as I was reading down the posts. Sorry about that...

Well, I figured out how to put a sling on it. It was actually pretty simple. The machined thread mounts screw right in to the stock, I just had to cut it down in length. The ones I had before were the course thread for screwing into a wood stock. For the magazine cap I was able to make the mount work by boring out a hole in the spring cap at the end of the mag to allow the bolt to clear. I'm good to go now. Thanks for all the input guys.
