I have a Norinco HP9 with 14 inch barrel and was looking at starting some simple modifications to it. I was looking at a mag extension but I think that only a +1 will fit without sticking past the barrel and I can't seem to find one.

Also, I was wondering if it is possible to affix a bayonet (I know, don't laugh but I think it would be a neat addition to a short barreled shotgun) but I'm not sure how to go about doing this.

It seems for the most part that parts are interchangeable wit the 870 I believe if that helps any.

IIRC dlask sells the +1 extensions. you can get them at brownells as well.

there is no room on a +1 extension to put a bayonet mount mag clamp on and still be able to mount a bayo - even if you cut an M7 down like this:

The foreend tube isnt always the same diameter as an 870, you might want to replace this with a genuine remington part or you could have issues. The extractor is nice to swap out. The sites can be switched for say Wilson Ghost rings. The stock to maybe a speedfeed. Basically just keep the barrel and the receiver, thats what I did.

Have you looked at a Knoxx Spec-Ops? With a folder you may get into OAL difficulties. Restricted or not goes by the shortest length your gun can attain so if it folds to less than 26" OAL it will be restricted even if you are not intending to shoot it at that length and you will not legally be allowed to carry it backpacking.

Where did you find that knife? I'd like to get some dimensions for it. I have the 3 rail forend and have a couple of spare rails looking for something on them:D

Just got my Hp-9 today off CGN...I really like the Mossburg 590 A ghost ring sights / 1 rd mag extension...also really surprised by like the look of the fit/finish it as it is alot nicer than I expected as it looks better than in these pics....Nice and solidly built ...racks nice ...gonna go for a sled ride then make the little piggy squeeeeeel w:h:

Ok went and fired off 20 rounds out of my little piggy....only light loads..2 3/4 in #6 but with one in the pipe I could have 6 in the gun...gotta luv living out in the sticks...sled ride to my shooting area from my back yard with the little piggy on my back...lol

Not as much kick as I thoughtt would have with the short barrell..the action stiffened up after shooting as it is harder rack it....needs some lube I bet...overall I really like the gun and the sights seemed easy to pick up...my first time using ghost rings

Notice I was a good boy and picked up my empties.....Recycle,Reuse.SHOOT THE CRAP OUT OF IT !!

Might add a shell holder to it but will keep it like it is for now

I was the original owner of that lil HP9 with the Mossy sites.

I bought the 590 sites new and had the receiver drilled/tapped and the front site soldered on. Was a bit pricey but a quality finished product.

Turned out great....Already regret selling it!! lol

The late model HP9's seem as good or better than late model Rem express for fit/finish etc IMO.
