How many guys here have one?

I know one of our members has one in 270....

Seems like a lot of $$ for a Rem 700 copy reciever without an anti-bind slot, a M70 safety, a better extractor and a detachable mag......of course they are supposed to have a pretty good trigger....

HS rifles are pretty nice, but at almost $3000, you can get one built for you and/or buy 2 Kimbers:)

two Kimbers eh?...one in each hand?...how will I carry my binos and/or elk calls?

I could buy two HS's without spending a nickel...I have at least $6000 worth of extra rifles here I hardly shoot,..partial listing in the EE

You could tweek a Rem 700 w/mag & almost have the same rifle for half the price.
Thought I would add this, it's almost impossible to get accessories for HS's I know a guy who waited 2 years for a spare mag & is still waiting, :(

I've had a lot of tweaked 700's...been there, done that....tired of them.

Need something different.....maybe a Kimber if I can't get a good deal on the HS.......looking at an HS in 300WSM

I didn't find the Kimber that extravagant in quality & performance...if you went that way, I would say you'd be better off gettin a Sako.

If you do found an HS, I'll pretty much garantee that it'll be your new #1 in your collection.

I hear you on the Sako vs. Kimber.......

a friend of mine bought two new Sako 85's within the last year, a laminate/stainless 30-06 and a blue/walnut 270 (I would have gotten a 25-06 but that's me), very nice and very accurate rifles. They feed like they have eyes and handle very nicely. The detachable mags are strong and positive in function. I've owned many Sako A series rifles and a few L series as well...gotta love those older Sakos but they don't seem to stay long at my house.

I've been thru the whole stainless 700, wildcat chamber, good stock( Brown Prec, McMillan, HS, B&C and Wildcat, had 'em all), had King, PacNor and Gaillard barrels, Timney and Shilen triggers.....been down that road so many times I'm bored with it all....it's a cookie cutter world in custom 700's....witness the stainless, B&C stocked 35 Whelen on the EE...built 'em all myself too. Had 7-08AI, 280 AI, 350 Rem Mag, 25-06, 25-284, a couple 35 Whelens, 284 Winchester,257 Wtby and a few I've probably forgotten about....lots of rifles I've barreled or built are floating around out there in CGN land...I simply need something new and different to keep me interested.
I'm lucky enough to be able to buy whatever rifle I want and I plan to.

Rembo, something else to consider. In the latest issue of the SCI journal Craig Boddington did a short write up on the new E.R. Shaw Mark VII. The long time barrel maker is now offering a made to order package. It is based on a action similar to the 110, and comes with the accutrigger. Your choice of barrel configuration and caliber with 90 choices from 17 Fireball to 458 Lott, with several stock choices as well. If memory serves me they were starting around $700. I don't know the availability here in Canada but might be worth checking out. E.R. Shaws patent spiral fluting is an option that would be on my made to order "semi custom".
