HS precision bottom metal length

I'm looking to put HS precision bottom metal on my 700 SPS custom 260AI. It doesn't feed with the stock DBM and am wondering what the maximum cartridge overall length you can put in a short action mag. I'm shooting 130 VLD's but to get them to shoot they need to be considerably longer than the stock mag. I do have hornady GMX shooting quite well at magazine length but again there's the feeding issue. I would prefer to use the VLD's and if the HS mags are long enough then that's a bonus over single feeding.
 
HS precision mags are on the short side, 2.81" max OAL or there abouts. I believe Alpha Industries type 2 mags for A.I. Style bottom metals can accomodate around 2.96" OAL.
 
Sounds good. Thanks for the info. My VLD's are shooting great with a .050" jump at a COL of 2.852 so the AI mags would work.
