Has anyone had any experiences with HS Precision's detachable mag systems for Rem 700 rifles?

I see that they have one that will fit my 21" barreled Rem 700 LSS 375RUM project rifle.

I load my 375RUM cartridges to a COL of 3.65" and I'm told in communications with HS Precision that their mags will work and are 3.7" in length part # ap209-5 is recommended.

Any pro's or con's on these units for use in this defense/hunting rifle or even other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Cook, I have an HS mag on my 6.5x47 and it is a great setup. For feeding use shims to seat it to the right depth for proper feeding before you bed it. Good luck.

I have this bottom metal/mag setup on 2 rifles and am very pleased. Well made, nice lines for a sporting rifle, and very positive in operation.

Have one on my 700 BDL in 300 RUM along with an HS stock. Great set up and the mag and bottom metal from HS is top notch. Everything was a drop in.

Do you know what the COL of your 300RUM cartridges are?

I've now been talking with Rick @ ATR he has stock but holy sh*t these units are definately not cheap...

He also has some brass that I have been looking for... :)

FYI, I checked my 6.5 STW's mag. and it will accomodate COL's up to 3.70.
That being an actual measurement of mag's inside dimension.

I have two, but they are in short action 700's (22-250 and 300wsm) For short action a 10 shot mag is available. I like the HS set-up, but I wish the release button was a touch bigger, with gloves on, you really have to push to get the mag to come out. I have a friend with a 300 rum with the HS mag and he likes his too.

I have one on my .338 Lapua, and have bolted it to my 300 RUM where it also feeds RUM rounds with no issues. That same HS setup also works perfectly when feeding 300 WSM through the long action. It works well.

One question and this is very imporant to me, can the mag be topped up when it is still in the action or does it have to be removed to get more rounds in?

Thank you everyone for the info, it is always good to get answers that are relevent to the questions asked, unlike comments made by a few others whose only input is to spew childishly... :D

It may not apply to the .375 RUM (no experience with this round), but for the benefit of others considering HS mags:

Remember that mags such as the Accuracy International have 'ribs' pressed into the magazine that run down the length of the mag where the cartridge is narrower at the shoulder. If you have a big cartridge with sharp shoulders like a 40 degree Ackley Improved - you will not be able to fit them into the magazine because the new blown out shoulder will now sit where the rib is. An example - .338 Lapua will fit but a .338 Lapua AI will not fit. HS mags do not have these ribs, so most any round will fit as long as the length allows.
In the big HS mags, 3.665ish is about the longest COL you can have before they will stop cycling through the action. I wish they had enough length so I could seat a .338AI out to the lands.
The 3 round mags protrude from the bottom of the gun a bit but look amazingly sleek. I just wish they made 5 rounders. If anyone wants to make some, or modify some 2 or 3 round mags to hold 5 I will pay well for them, and I imagine I am not alone there.
