Anyone read the really negative press HS Precision is getting in the US as of late for printing a letter to them in regards to their FBI contract rifle package on the back cover of their new catalog?

The person who wrote the letter is the same person who was in charge of the rifle selection process and he is Lon Hariuchi, the former FBI sniper that shot and killed Randy Weavers wife at Ruby Ridge.

I read that HS is taking a serious s**t kicking from gun owners in the US and manufacturers that use their product.

There's a thread on here somewhere about it too.

I hate to armchair quarterback something like that with next to no facts, but clearly what happened is terrible for all involved and he's probably not someone you want endorsing your product, rightly or wrongly.

edit* check out the thread on lightfighter for a different take on it all, if only for perspective...

Yes I have read the fall out on several US sites it is not in the least favourable to HS which in IMO is deserving for having a POS like Lon Hariuchi .He is a poster boy for what went wrong in the FBI and the US government during that time ,He intentionaly killed Vikki Weaver who was standing in the door way in a bid to get Randy Weaver to come to her aid so he could shot him.
Steve Look at it this way it is like having Paul Bernado endorsing IDPA Canada get the picture

You were there or read that in a book somewhere. I can't believe the armchair quarterbacks or self proclaimed experts here.

Do your homework. The only way an expert sniper could have killed Vicky Weaver was intentionally, and the FBI snipers are among the best in the world. Vicky was shot at short range on her porch, in the open. She and the baby she was holding were dragged inside after she was hit. Listen to the interviews given by the Weavers' eldest daughter, assuming you don't want to believe what Randy has to say on the subject. It is possible that Horiuchi thought if he rugged her it would draw Randy into the open. It nearly worked too, as his follow up shot wounded Randy who broke cover to get to Vicky. That entire operation was a massive FU out of the gate. It resulted in the shooting death of a 14 year old boy who took a burst from an MP-5 rounds in the back after his dog was killed by federal agents hiding in the bush, and culminated in Vicky's death. When all that was done Horiuchi was sent to Waco to shoot more unarmed people.

I don't understand how anyone who pays attention to these things can be naive enough to unquestioningly accept what he is being told by the agencies that were involved at Ruby Ridge or at Waco. There are many people with law enforcement and military backgrounds who have come forward to openly criticize these operations. Isn't is interesting that a contractor (Bo Gritz) was brought in to negotiate a resolution to the siege. The surviving members of the Weaver family were awarded large monatary damages, exceeding $2,000,000 in total.

When mistakes are made they must be corrected, not built upon. Horiuchi is a villain, but then so are his faceless handlers who established the rules of engagement and authorized him to fire.

Regardless of our personal opinions about Ruby Ridge, the fact that HS published this letter in their international catalog, I think will not do them any help. Talking with fellow shooters int he US on other forums, it has and will continue to hamper their sales to the civilian market.

I dont think that I will get a HS stock now.
Why would the FBI keep someone like him on the payrole. I was in the states after that happened and people were mad about it. It takes a special kind of person to shoot a woman with a child down in cold blood

Have you seen Obama's line-up?

Have you seen Bush's lineup over the past 8 yrs and resulting economic crisis, the worse since the depression, which is affecting the world including Canada, lowest approval rating in history, there is a reason for that....... you could go on and on. There are numerous republicans who can't distance themselves from Bush fast enough, John McCain maybe? Its not a republican/democrat thing for me. He ####ed the country for the past 8 yrs and I don't think Obama will do any worse. I don't care what party he is from.

EC believe what you want no one was holding a gun to Lons head when he killed Vikki Weaver. If you think George Bush is entirely at fault for the ecomomic mess the US is in now Keep smoking :onCrack:.

The Democratic Congress can take credit for the collapse of the US economy, you know guys like Barney Frank! The Bush White House tried to warn Congress that a catastrophic failure of the housing market would occur if emergency legislation was not acted on. Congress ignored the warning, then simply shifted the blame when the collapse occured. The media, with the exception of Fox was in the tank for the Dems, and they backed the spin. So yes, expect things to get worse, much worse!

The seeds for the melt-down were sown by Clinton and co. "Everybody get a house". And no I wouldn't say Bush was a good pres. either.

To give the devil his due, it was President George Bush who first sounded the warning about sub-prime mortgages and he actually had legislation introduced to close this loophole that permited banks & other lending institutions to sell this "product." It was the Democratic dominated House, under the leadership of Nancy Pelosi, et al., that blocked that legislation and other similar bills and who continually criticized the Bush White House for trying to "interfer" in free commerce...then when everything went to crap, they tried to blame Bush and the Republicans! Lieberals by another name I guess....

I never said he was entirely at fault, but it is his administration and ultimately responsible for it.

Sure they did. Spoken like a true republican supporter. Again it is not a republican/democrat thing for me, it's who can do the best job and we all know the wonderful job Bush did the past 8 yrs. If Bush did such a great job, why is their country in the state it is. Its all the democrats fault I am sure...Fox is the most biased news network I have ever watched.

Uh, how did we go from the topic of HS Precision using a Governemnt trained Assasin to rpomote their product, to the "my dad is tougher then your dad" BS about who is worse, the Democrats or the Republicnas when it comes the the economic crisis in the US?

As I said earlier, a Democratic Congress that has been hijacked under Pelosi, by the extreme left wing of that party wants to discredit anything the Bush Government has accomplished. Of course under an Obama leadership, you can be sure of a UN sanctioned ban on the international arms trade, a rewrite of NAFTA, the socialization of US society, and an upgrade of Clinton's crime bill. Sure does look like rosey times ahead for the radical left, but for guns owners or those who value personal freedom across North America, not so much. Michael Moore values don't impress me much.
