Hudson H9: Striker Fired 1911 [SHOT 2017]

Late to the game here, but I just read about this on 24 Hr. Campfire. There is a recent (this month) review here. Generally positive although some reservations about accuracy as well as POI.

This H9 is not a highly accurate pistol. For one thing, the point of impact is low and the sights aren’t adjustable for elevation. On this H9, the rear sight needed to be taller or the front lower. And it isn’t me. At 15 yards from a sandbag this gun hits about six inches low. Every other shooter who attempted accurate hits saw the same results.

Issues with POA/POI aren’t necessarily related to mechanical accuracy, though. Sadly, this H9 doesn’t excel there, either. The pistol’s barrel lockup is relatively loose; I can push on the barrel hood and easily cause it to slide up and down, and can slightly wobble the barrel at the muzzle end, too. The H9’s slide-to-frame fit is also fairly loo

Don't know what bullet weight he was using. If the sights were set for 115 or 124, you'd think that the 147 or 165 gr. would print higher, although the very low bore axis might reduce this. At that price I'd like to have adj. sights. Certainly an interesting pistol, but looks like it still needs a bit of refinement.

Just Watched an InRange Youtube first impressions video:
.

At 115gr/124gr loads they were getting 12 o'clock hold impacts (low strikes). There was a text overlay which noted that the POA/POI were matched when shooting 147gr ammo after they finished filming.

I know I shoot better with my CZ Shadow when I feed it 124s. I want to try it for sure, not sure I want to pay MSRP + Canadian markup for it tho.

Kind of an old thread but I thought it was going to be my next perfect gun to win all the matches. I got to try one out thanks to a really cool guy and DVC ventures for the use of their range. I liked everything about it. A lot ! Except for one tiny detail. The gun is not very accurate for some reason and it's not the sights, but man does it ever work well particularly on quick double taps. CTCS has them in stock in Canada.

I all honesty, only one brand and bullet weight in my test fire should not be considered a fair test to judge accuracy . This gun could be fussy. Everything else about it was great.

The low profile of slide travel over grip + weight loaded front end should help tame down recoil = for an expected very accurate pistol.

Interesting for sure. It'll take me some to warm up to the clubby look, though.

Horrendously over-rated. JMB used a full length recoil spring on a recoil spring guide inside the frame.
The Hudson employs a compact recoil spring in a compact compartment to what end? Is it superior to JMB's design or just a new concept?
Is the Hudson a new superior design? Is there an advantage to shortening the recoil compartment? Im not convinced. JMB didnt think so. Is it an improvement?
