If one was going to try out CAS and more for recreation with the wife and me, for fun not time. Would you get a Stoeger Silverado or Huglu 201 HRZ with the exposed hammers? I realize the hammers will slow you down a touch but I’ve always been a sucker for case hardening and exposed hammers on a SxS.

This is offset by the Silverado being $410-420 cheaper but the auto safety picks me and I don’t mind paying extra if the quality upgrade is there. I haven’t handled either and it would be an online purchase, so any input is much appreciated! The SA’s and Rifle I already have, just this last piece, that’s why we thought to jump in.

I would get the Stoeger to start. You will probably change guns and calibers a couple of times if you get really involved. I started with 97s, bought a Stoeger that I used for a while, now I have a couple of BSS's that I use but I still breakout the 97. Find what you feel comfortable with. If you are in the interior give me a call, you are welcome to try some of my equipment.
Message me and we can connect.

The only Huglu I've been around at Cowboy ranges had a serious malfunction develop shortly after it was new, the solder didn't hold and the barrels separated. I know the fellow very well and basically warranty was non-existent. A friend of ours (very experienced dude at sweating things together) tried to stick them back together but even he gave up and I don't think it is fixed yet.

I've shot with lots of folks using Stoegers of one model or another and other than the odd complaint over the spring tensions being very strong on the break latch and hammers. Your wife may have trouble with both but spring adjustments are relatively simple by cutting part of a coil off at a time until you get what you want.

C. Lefty & Fingers, thank you both for the advice! The triggers on the Huglu are outrageously heavy also I found out threw digging around, this just cements it’s dismissal from the running.

PM inbound after work Lefty as we would be attending the Kamloops events!

Cheers,
Dirk
