I just ordered a Huglu 201HRZ yesterday from Prophet River. It’s the double barrel side by side external hammer 30 inch barrels. English style stock. Gets good reviews online , is apparently the same as the CZ hammer classic , thought I’d ask here anyway: Anyone shooting a Huglu ?
If so how’s it been and whats your opinion of it ?

Haven’t shot one, but I hear both Huglu and Yildiz currently make the best budget shotguns. I used to have a Yildiz SPZ 20 gauge and it was an absolutely awesome gun.

I have a 30" classic, shoot it a lot on the sporting clays course, its my favorite gun very well made and very reliable.

Thanks fellas , good to hear they are a decent gun !
I’ve been using a 1921 manufactured 16 gauge Ithaca flues side by side for a few years in the field and felt an upgrade was deserved lol.

A member of our club bought one exactly like you have and used it all last season for recreational trap. He had one tiny burp of a loose screw, easily rectified, other than that it has performed flawlessly. He's very pleased with it and he sold the over/under he had been using. I've handled it, shot it and watched it in operation and I'm very impressed so far, bearing in mind that this gun was intended as a field gun that might fire 100-200 rounds per year, nobody knows how it will stand up to thousands of rounds per year. If hammers are your thing this is a great gun for the money.

Good to hear ! I mainly bush hunt but I do shoot clays once or twice a year with friends though when they set up the thrower at a campsite. My old Ithaca takes 2-1/2 inch shells which are a bit hard to come by to shoot much clays with. This Huglu I got in 12 gauge so I can shoot the cheap target shells and get some more clay shooting in. I live 20 minutes from Silver Willow Clay facility in Alberta , was thinking of joining up and giving it a try.

I have a 200ac mini 410 and a 200b in 20ga. Both are very well built for money. Great wood. Triggers on both are decent. Not heavy. Im not sure if ill buy a huglu hammer gun as i have a couple of vintage hammerguns already. Though i have a huglu 20 ou coming

I have used the Huglu over unders for upland and sporting clays, I like them and they are less than a Browning.
I am shooting 20 gauge and 12 gauge. I have bought these from Clay at Prophet River as well.

I picked up a huglu hrz hammer gun with 30inch barrels a few years ago and have been happy with it for the money I paid. Only thing I can say bad about it are the triggers are north of the 10lb mark and the gun itself is on the heavy side for upland but that last ones not really an issue for me as i use it strictly in the duck and goose blind. Nice to have a hammer gun that eats 3inch steel, we will see how she holds up to the test of time

HOLY CHIT!! I can't imagine shooting a shotgun be it in the duck blind or on a clays course with a trigger pull that heavy. You'd damned near be jerking the gun off your shoulder to get it to fire?! My field guns are all adjusted to 4lbs and my trap guns to 3-3.5.

I purchased a Yildiz Elegant A1 quite a few years ago when they first came to this area. Beautiful gun but the triggers broke at 12 lbs! Fortunately, I was able to take the action apart and compress the trigger springs with my fingers, they were so soft that when I put the gun back together the triggers then broke at 5 lbs! :)

Thanks for the info in this thread, fellas. I've been looking at the Huglu SxS's and all reports seem to be that they are solid/good value guns. I owned a CZ 20ga SxS a few years back and it was a decent gun. I probably should have never sold it, but I always seem to have a new gun itch that needs scratching and can't afford to keep them all.

Yes I know the triggers are bad, it's on my list of things to get worked on. I'm with you guys on preferring a 4lb trigger on my shotguns. Just thought i would try and give the OP an honest opinion on the huglu I have
