Prophet River has been selling these for a while now so I hope someone here has one and can tell me a thing or two about them. I could just call Prophet River but I was hoping someone here can help me so I don't have to bug them. I have hunted geese all this fall with a Sinsinatti single shot 12 guage.

I love this style gun for hunting, however there are some drawbacks. First it has an aluminum receiver, which is fine, but it is very light. I added almost half a pound of lead to the buttstock to smooth it out. It did have a shiny aluminum receiver, I painted it with black paint to mask it some. The firing pin operates in a steel bushing, after several hundred 3" shells it got peened over and the firing pin would stick out after firing. I filed it slightly and the pin moved again, but you have to wonder about the material quality. My last issue is the trigger guard is what opens the action. This would be fine except the tolerances are crap and it wobbles all over which just annoys me.

The Huglu guns interest me because they are a steel reciever and the action opens different. But...is the trigger guard fixed in place? Is there a bushing for the firing pin on the steel receiver? How is the fit and finish?

I bought my Sinsinatti for $100 so I can't complain too much. But if I am going to spend $300 on a Huglu I want something nicer.

The trigger guard slides back to open the action. Very solid firearm and of much higher quality than the sinsinatti. I picked up a real nice one from Clay on customer appreciation day. Couldn't be happier as the Huglus are one of the best value firearms on the market!

I have trouble thinking single shot standing up to a steady diet of 3 inch steel shot shells.
Certainly Cooey shotguns with their swaged choke are not a good candidate, in my opinion.

Thank you, is yours extractor only, or does it have an ejector?
