Hello Everyone,

I would like to start off by saying hello to everyone on the forum.

I am new to shotguns and skeet, however, I grown rather fond of the sport--which leads me to my point. I am interested in locating some once fired 12G hulls.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a dealer of shotgun reloading supplies? Moreover, if anyone has hulls that they are willing to part with - msg me.

Thanks in advance for all your help.
I look forward to hopefully getting to know a few members here, to share our similar interests.

Happy Holidays

do you belong to a gun club?
theres usually more there than you can carry, since most people do not reload. you could pick out the new, quality high brass hulls.

i should start saving mine so i can give them away to people that would use them.

What kind of a club do you belong to? I belong to two different clubs. And shoot at many others. I would say in my experience at least 80% of these Clay shooters reload.

Shotshell reloading ahs declined in popularity lately. I used to reload a lot for my 12 ga but sold off all my gear when steel shot became mandatory for waterfowl and it was cheaper to but than load. Now I am loading custom stuff that either cannot be bought or is VERY expensive to buy.

Most of the components and loading gear seems had to locate. My local dealer does stock some wads, primers, and powder but you have to catch him while he still has stock as he usually only brings them in once a year. He sometimes has once fired Winchester AA HS hulls (about $20.00/200). He has lots of wads in stock but most are orphans left over from years past.

I'm not sure of the legality of exporting from the US, but there are always lots of 12 ga hulls listed on gunbroker.com for reasonable prices.

Best advise I can offer is to call all your local gun shops and see what they stock or what they are willing to order.

While I enjoy reloading, I would recommend pricing buying in bulk (case lots or better) and compare it to what it will cost to reload. It may be cheaper to buy than to load and the time spent loading could be used shooting!

Shot is currently about $50.00/11 kg bag around here. Primers are about $5.00/hundred and wads about $12.00/250 so you are looking at about $0.33/round or $8.07/box. Winchester AA shells can usually be bought for about the same or less($8.63/box @ LeBarons or $79.94 for 10 boxes). Something to consider.

perhaps there are more reloaders at trap and skeet.
in sporting clays i always see a lot. many people shoot quality loads and just leave their once-fired hulls. go on a busy day and you should get plenty.

or just buy a flat of ammo, shoot them and reload them. not like shotgun ammo is that expensive. unless you find them locally, the money you would have saved on the initial hulls you will doubtless fork over to those extortionists at Canada post just to have them shipped to you.

I myself was thinking of starting to reload for Trap shells. I figure it would take about 2 to 3 years of shooting to break even on the costs of reloading.

Hello Maverick 936, If you are in the Oshawa area, there is a fine gentlemen by the name of Lloyd Irv. He sells hulls and all the reloading supplies you need. Our club in Kingston deals with him.
If you are in Hamilton area go to Hummason.

I did the same math as woolly a few years ago.

It seems target loads are cheaper to simply buy, I got my last case for about $70, I can't find the components that cheap. I'm curious how you got a positive payback.

Yep, you wouldn't be saving much right now with the price of everything.

Also if you're picking up old hulls there are some that are good and some that are no good. I know AA Winchester are good(red / grey), and federal gold medal (green), but the WalMart cheap winchesters and federals are no good, not sure about Kents Something to do with one or two peice design and cardboard inside that can absorb moisture. That's all I know from talking to the "Hull Scrounder" at my range!
Take care

Thanks to all that replied- I live in Northern Ontario.

I have done lots of research, and I am unable to find a reliable source for clean once-fired hulls at a good price. All the companies I found are in the US, which does me no good (they cannot ship to Canada). I do have a local shop that I deal with; unfortunately, the shop does not carry hulls.

There must be someone out there that has re-loaded shotguns and knows where I can find a variety of bulk supplies for cheap.

I will make a list of the ones I have come up with in a day or so- so let's see your recommendations.

HUMMASON IN HAMILTON powder PROMO $100\8lbs cheddite primmers $35\1000 wads clay buster $100\5000 these prices are approx prices shot just went up too$34 \25lbs . if you need a few hulls too get you started $.05 each plus post .I DONT WANT TOO PART WITH A LOT . try EPPS in ORILLA .

Do some shooting first - then worry about reloading. Right now the cost of components plus buying a loader is more expensive than buying shells. Next time you are in the big smoke go to Flaherty's or Lebarons and buy 3 or 4 flats. (or more - whenever I am down there the truck is usually heavy coming home....)

Good luck

re reloading

shot gun hulls can be hard to find, but if you go to a good size club when they are having a regestered trap shoot you should be able to get thousands. at both the clubs I shoot at (kelowna and Vernon B.C.) we end up dumping many full 45 gallon barrells of empties after a big shoot.
you may not find too many remingtons but there is usually winchesters galore. I would agree there are fewer people reloading but if you buy your components in bulk it is still worth it and you can load the shell you want.
for example I use a lot of 3 dram one ounce loads and you can not find them in the cheap promo shells

X2..Just check out a local trap range. Brands vary according to local availablity of loaded factory ammo. few years ago I picked up thousands of Remington Gun Clubs after a shoot...called dumpster diving or hull whores:D

G Clubs are the most reloadable promo hulls made...Fedral Top Guns are OK for one or two loadings and the Winchester target loads are all but worthless for reloading IMO.

I buy my lead shot in the US for 24.95 a bag. Primers are 34.00/1000 and claybuster clone wads are cheap.

Have many pounds of discontinued Winchester WAAP powder that I purchased for 16 bucks/pound years ago. So with factory target shells now pushing 70+ dollars/flat I can save cash loading 1 oz. target loads for a couple rounds/week trap... spring and fall.
