The guy's got a gun, which is NOT at the ready. The 'bear' looks too dark for the rest of the pic.....

As in "PS."

That pic is genuine. That's my brother. The area is a place called Lone Prairie just south of Chetwynd BC.

Define "at the ready" genius. Maybe where you come from you shoot everything that jumps in front of you...Out here there's Grizz and Black bear all over the place so not everyone panics at the sight of them; and just having the rifle loaded is enough. This was a sow with 4 cubs so he passed on taking a shot.

As for the bear looking too dark...It's a BLACK BEAR!! "photoshop"...I swear every day of my life forces me to add to the list of people who can kiss my a$$

Thats a friggen nice looking bear! Beautiful white chest!
4 cubs seems like a lot to me, but I don't really know bears, is that unusual?

I'm not sure a litter of 4 is unusual but for these to survive thus far is exceptional. There's darn sure plenty of wolves and other predators out there as well.

nice photos, nice bear. as an aside, i hate it when people jump on the PS bandwagon, like wtf does no one have anything better to do with ther time that to clone a tiny blob of a bear in a photo and claim it for real? Really is that worth the effort for me or anyone else to do? The answer is no. Most photos who people yell PS at, have no editing done to them in any way. I think that is my biggest peve of the internet.... /rant.

Yeah, photo shop is not worth the effort in a pic like that. If it were photoshopped, i think the two would be much closer.
I am a professioanl photographer and an occasional phot oshop user, while photo shop is amazing and can do wonders it is a lot of work and I see alot of Photo shop comments attached to pics that are just not worth the effort of photoshop.

Thanks for sharing! Great photo's I enjoyed viewing them.
As for photoshop...I am sure many who cry out photoshop have never used the application themselves. It can be very time consuming.

...and the naysayers take aim at the photo

personally I think it's a great pic......I like the one of him behind the bale.

He didn't even know he was being photographed...The people with the camera (relatives on his wife's side...) were about 1/4 mile away on the road. They saw the bear way before he got there. He said he jumped behind the bale when she first stood up(which was the first time he saw her). He claims he never quite #### himself but there's one less pair of skivvies in his dresser drawer.

Location is right! Who needs bait when there's oats all over the place?

He's got moose, elk, whitetail/mule deer, bear, mountain goat, as well as the odd stray caribou all less than 20 minutes from his doorstep!
