humidity got to my non-chrome lined sks :(

Did a regular oil and maintenance to keep my tools all oiled and noticed the sks barrel is all black inside. Maybe it didn't get enough oil or the basement is extra humid this year. What do I do, is there a rust remover that doesn't remove bluing? Or should I just put it on EE as new condition?

Being my first rifle I thought about perhaps re barreling it if such a barrel is available. Any oversized .338 barrels out there?

i wouldnt put it on EE as new man, you just said its not new, credibility is everything in a community like this.

p.s. get a barrel brush, cleaning rod and solvent and scrub that mother out, followed with patches. Maybe even some boiling water, clean it out real good, dry it and oil it should be good

Yep, what he said and then shoot it, it will likely be black in the bore still but as long as you clean it and oil it your fine!

There is a remedy for this situation. Clean it again and keep it oiled. Pay special attention to the chamber. Inspect it every 3 days. You don't want that happening too much. It's a cheap enough rifle that you can just go buy a chrome lined one. I don't think your barrel would be compromised at this point but if you do put it on EE be honest about the condition and price it accordingly.

How is "black" rust? Hoppes 9, some carbon solvent, some scrubbing, and clp to lube and protect from "rust".

What's the issue?
