"hump" shot - urban legend... anyone have knowledge?

Back in '73 I was hunting deer in Williams Lake with my dad, we saw the strangest sight. It was a big moose rack that had about 8 holes in it,the weirdest thing is that it was strapped to the front of a white Jeep Wagoneer.....
I guess there was no hump shot needed or presented.....:eek:
