I am going to be selling my Hungarian M52 sniper rifle and want some input on value. Unfortunatly the scope and rings are missing and someone failed to clean the bore after shooting corrosive ammo. The rest of the rifle is matching and in very good condition. I know these are pretty rare and sell for a pretty good price in the U.S. What would something like this be worth on the Canadian market?

Without pics its a bit hard to evaluate but i would say maybe $500 if the scope base is still on receiver. Pics of the bore would be good to have. Just my opinion:)

Might be worth trying to restore it ...

For a comparison of markings and features, as well as what you'd need to do that, check the Russia - Milsurp Knowledge Library (click here)http://www.milsurps.com/content.php?r=126-russia

These are rarer and much more valuable than the regular Mosin-Nagant M91-30 Sniper Riflehttp://www.milsurps.com/content.php...-M91-30-Sniper-Rifle-(Mfg-by-Ishevsk-Arsenal), particularly with U.S. buyers for some reason.

With so few M52 Snipers made (7700 or Less?), it makes it the most Desireable M91/30 Sniper Variant.
Also take into account the Survival Rate of this 59 year old rifle which is why you see very few.

Also of interest, it was used by the North Vietnamese Army (NVA), aka "Charlie",
and Vet Bring Backs of this rifle from returning US Troops show up with capture papers
from the 60's and early 70's.

Made in Hungary, some were used in Nam.

Definately a Keeper.

A very large numbers of the Hungarian snipers were imported by International Firearms of Montreal. The majority without scopes, but a few hundred with scopes also.

how much more disirable than the russian one? $$ if the original Russian ones go for $850. ?

It's the "Hot Tamale" of Snipers.

Recently, a Canadian Dealer had some WW2 (pre 1945) Original M91/30 "Russian" PU Snipers listed at
$2000 and $2400. Both are gone. And these weren't the "Hungarian" M52 Sniper.

You can barely get a Repro M91/30 PU Sniper "Out the Door" for $850 with GST, PST, HST and Shipping!

So take it from there!

If this is the case I guess I am a bit behind the times. maybe I should sell a Hungarian also. what price range are Swedish m41 snipers going for?

I'd be curious about those current values as well .... :)

Check the Sweden - Milsurps Knowledge Library (click here)http://www.milsurps.com/content.php?r=128-sweden for photo montages and historical comparisons on all models from carbines to rifles, plus all three variants of the Swedish m41 sniper rifle.

Hungarians were made in smaller numbers, but because of the Zaitsev (Ennemy at the Gates) and WW2 association, I find that the Russian snipers are much more in demand and command a higher premium in Canada.

There's absolutely no doubt on the Originality with a Hungarian Sniper. With it's unique markings you know it left the factory as a Sniper .

You have to wonder with the Russian Snipers, is it fake, repro, or an ex-sniper, or a put together like many of the WW2 91/30 Snipers offered today.
