I just performed one of the best cleaning jobs of my Armalite / RRA middy 16" carbine and what a fantastic job. If you are the AR shooter who wished that they could do an uber/super clean job on the TAIL of the bolt where all the carbon tends to build up, then this CRT15 (Carbon Removal Tool) is for you. :D

One can obtain these CRT-15's from : http://www.neitdesigns.com/

or

CGNutz Dealer : NeitArms (see his card in my first picture?) :D

OMG  is all I can say. Magnamatic Defense, the maker of this tool is right when they brag that this tool WILL clean all the carbon from INSIDE the bolt carrier body AND also along the radius'ed tail of the bolt. Most of you AR lovers know that this radiused section tends to accumulate with lots and lots of carbon. Enthusiastic cleaning with the wrong (read: flat bladed screwdrivers, chisels, multitool bits, box cutter blades) tool may result in damaging that bolt tail and / or not cleaning the tail properly and STILL resulting in a krappy job that will certainly attract the attention of your DS (Directing Staff - for you DP1/DP2 CF types) or your Section Commander / 2 I/C. :( Now you can beat all the inspection blues and ensure all that carbon is removed and the bolt integrity is maintained (read: bubba chiseled the end of your bolt tail)

So how do I know about all the improper tools? It's because I've tried them all with my AR's in the past, with mediocre results. I was not satisfied. I was fearful that the carbon build up would result in my '#### falling off'. Now I know my private part is safe from loss with this CRT (Carbon Removal Tool)

When you receive the package from Neit Arms (CGN Board Dealer), it will come in a recyclable hard HPDE clamshell kinda package. Inside the clamshell pkg, you will be inundated with different instruction sheets with super cool colored diagrams which in simple language describe how to use this tool. Even an infantryman like me can read (no offense to the grunts here) this and use the tool properly the FIRST time.

Here is a pic of my bolt just coming apart. Nice and dirty.

Now understand around here, there are some great shooters of black rifles and Timk of Service Rifle fame and I have helped the LFCA Team shooters on and off over the years; both directly and indirectly. We have learned from all our competitive years of experience that the AR family of rifles loves to shoot well when they are  dirty. FLAME Suit ON! :nest: Many people are gonna flame me/us, but frankly I don't care because the LFCA shooters do very well with 'fouled' C7's et all. :D

So with that out of the way, I leave my Armalite DIRTY! Better yet, I don't even/ever clean my AR15 while at the National Service Conditions Championships (NSCC hosted by the DCRA at www.dcra.ca). NO Joking... I get around to cleaning my AR once , maybe TWICE a year and that's about every 1K rounds. Many other shooters might get around the 5K  mark and the STILL laugh at ME.

So back to the first time using this Carbon Removal Tool... I pulled my bolt apart from the bolt carrier and then proceeded to insert the spindle inside the bolt tail. Turn the CRT-15 clockwise (against the scraper tool arm) and WOW, the carbon just flakes off! :) The arm that scrapes the carbon is shaped and position(able) so that ALL different radius(es) of varying manufacturers of bolts can be cleaned. What a cool design, the engineers accommodate all the different radii (plural for radius) from all the bolts out there in Black Rifle Land. :D

Here is the spindle of the CRT-15 inside the tail of my RRA bolt

Now the various radii of the bolt tail is easily cleaned by re-positioning the hardened steel arm against the offending carbon accumulation, then you just have to turn the tool/bolt combination in a clockwise direction. Trust me, like tying your shoelaces; it's easier to DO it, than it is to explain! :D

Have a look at the tail of my bolt after judicious scrapping... I'm super impressed. My #### is safe from falling off.

Take a look at all the carbon scraped off sitting on the workbench surface.

Now here comes the biggest (I believe) selling feature of this puppy. I love this unit :D

I now turn my attention to the inside of the bolt carrier. Holy Fart Batman! Only a few turns and the carbon at the END of the bolt carrier interior is clean. OMG ! I'm in Black Rifle heaven. Why didn't they make this baby when I was in uniform ?? :runaway: I'm sold!

All in all, this system is so quick and easy to use. You will pass this around your friends. You will even learn who your friends (and now enemies) are because your friends will buy you many, many bzzrs for preventing their #### loss! Your enemies will not return this CRT-15 BACK to you. May the fleas of a thousand camels infest their crotch hair!

Have a gander at all the carbon that came from my bolt and bolt carrier unit:

I must mention that for your SR25 or .308 AR lovers/fans, Magnamatic Defense makes a version for THAT specific bolt tail/radius. Head over to NeitArms ' webpage: http://www.neitdesigns.com/

And go have a look at the stuff they are bringing in.

In conclusion, who should buy one of these? All you AR lovers who think I'm freakin' crazy for cleaning my AR once every 1K rounds (once a year or so) because you dudes love your AR's nice and spotless. Also I cannot forget about having a few of these around the Rifle Section. Man this tool is exactly what the CF should issue all the C7 and C8 users, unlike that goofy C1A1 combo tool the CF issued (2 per section) me back in 1PPCLI. That really sucked because we were always fighting over a mediocre piece of kit. First to get their pers wpns clean would always be the first to get their uniforms and laundry in the machines.... this was a fond memory of life in the Battalion. Have things changed that much in 30 years? Likely not...

Price? Give CGN Dealer NeitArms a shout or visit his website (link is above) and see what the price is. Frankly, for the clean bolt carrier and bolt, it's priceless. I'm reminded of this every time I think about the lousy job I did scraping the carbon off my bolt in very visible and goofy patterns without a good feeling of satisfaction. (Play Rolling Stones' Can't Get No Satisfaction here). I dunno about my famous advice (Don't buy ONE, buy TWO instead) would be useful unless you bought 2 of them and gave one to your AR15 owning wife or AR buddies or AR girl/boy friends. Nope, I not saying that you guys have boyfriends with AR's, but truth be told, I do KNOW of a couple of female CGNutters who OWN AR15's. Not to mention some female shooters on the LFWA team who can kick my 500 point butt everyday!

Any questions? Give me a shout and I can elaborate the use of this amazing tool. It's right up there with the ShamWow units I purchased at the 2009 Calgary Stampede :D

Now for those of you Black rifle and ORA hosted Service CQB shooters, I am gonna bring this tool with me to my Service Rifle and Service CQB Clinics & Matches so that you AR shooters can play with my tool (whoops, that sounded goofy  ) my er, CRT-15 tool at lunch! See all of you around!

Peace be to journey!

I had heard about those, but hadnt seen one in use. Looks like it works well.

Looks like a great tool. One of those things you look at an wonder why someone didn't think of it before.

Personally, I just shoot guns that don't s**t where they eat.

:nest:

Oh man and did yours ever need cleaning!!! You weren't kidding that you let it get dirty. cool tool. Thanks for the demo.

I need to learn more about ar-15 maintenance.

Available on our store. We still have a few left; www.shop.neitdesigns.com

Glad you liked it Barney, I've just finally got around to cleaning mine as well... Little thing does wonders. The guy making these is pretty checked out, trying to make a go for himself. If you know anything about Magna-matic (his family company) you know they're known for making quality precision parts. We're also carrying his AK front Sight tool.. it's bullet proof, and will have some M14 tools in shortly.

Oh my Hungry you are a dirty boy! Didn't your priest ever tell you what happened to those who over use and don't clean? Ahhhh, that's why you always say your #### will fall off...the voice of experience. I can see now why your so excited about this new "tool" :D

Just think, rotate and rub your CRT ( C#ck Regeneration Tool ) and your "bolt" is reincarnated into a superhero

Great review Barney, thanks. Talked to Dave and ordered one up on his site. Can't wait to "play" with it : )

I might need this tool with Huntress & I getting Marstar M4 rifles shortly... Heck, I might need two to prevent my #### from falling off... HA HA HA!

Excellent review Hungry!

Cheers
Jay
P.S. NeitArms, thanks for bringing stuff like this to us!

Barney, I've ordered one. Please don't show me your tool! :)

Hungry here: Especially at tomorrow's (Sat 08 May CQB Match) gathering at Langemark, I must bring my tool and show everyone how to scrape the carbon of their tail! ;)

I might have to order one of these now. Not that I need one, or even want one, but simply because that was a great review and it was fun to read.

And I really don't want my #### to fall off. :) Maybe I should order two to be safe?

We just got in another shipment of these tools. We also brought in a few AR-10 bolt tools as well. Target Sports is going to have some of these in their hands by the end of the week as well.
