It's official! The Selkirk Fish and Game Club has kindly opened their clubhouse facility for me to carry out an M14 Clinics at their location.

Most of you know that I'm doing a road trip out West to Hongcouver Island and stopping in Calgary for 2 dates (24 & 25 July). Well this time, I'm swinging by on my way home to Bantario and stopping in Winnipeg area for the 31 July Saturday M14 clinic.

* Date: Sat 31 July 2010
* Location: Selkirk Fish and Game, Selkirk, MB

* Cost: $ 35
* Timings: 0900 start - Likely finish up around 1600 hrs

Material Covered:

- Tools for tweaking, tools to avoid, tools that are nice to have but expensive, tools that are overrated and too expensive
- Gadgets that are nice to have, need to have, and useless to have (but I had to buy it to show you)
- Tools that you can make yourself instead of buying, tools that you can have buddies (owe you favors) make up for you
- Stripping the boomstick (you will be surprised at what I can show you)
- Assembling the boomstick, and what to look for so that worthwhile tweaks can be or should be made
- Tweaks that work, tweaks that don't work, expensive tweaks so yer #### does not fall off
- Useless tweaks unless you have more money than shooting ability (many stories to follow at the clinic)
- Common pitfalls, expensive tweaks that work, more ways to ensure that yer #### don't fall off
- Lunch and then tweaking in the afternoon, shimming, pounding out more shims (all hands on activities)
- Lots of networking and socializing all the time. This is priceless (even if the $ 35 only covers my costs).

* Things to bring: your M14, some basic tools, notebook, pens, digital camera, rags, ball peen hammer, punches, screwdrivers, more punches, TIG Welder, Service Truck (vise for rebarreling), fired brass for us to measure, plastic or rubber mallet, wood block or 2, Black and Decker Workmate (clamping ability for your barreled action or stock), masking tape, duct tape, Loctite (blue and red stuff), I'll bring the Devcon and all glass bedding materials....more to follow as I remember to remind myself.

* Registration: PM (don't use email) me on the board. I'll send you payment instructions. You can choose EMT (electronic money transfer for you online banking fans) or Snail Mail cheques/buried cash. We'll just stick with the fee ! I will use this forum (right here ) to monitor the numbers and payment details. With your payment, ensure that you remind me of your CGN handle and what location the clinic is in since I'm helping run several Service Rifle and Service CQB these days.

So I asked this question when I tried to hijack the Calgary thread, and you just replied that the Winnipeg clinic wasn't a sure thing. I'm new to firearms ownership, and I don't have the tool shed that many of you guys have. What is required for each individual to bring?

Too bad that's the weekend of the IPSC Nats. I was registered for the last one in Selkirk but missed that one due to flooding. I hope there's a next clinic...

You must have a castle nut wrench, gas cylinder wrench and allen keys.

And remember to avoid Orring the trigger when you shoot that thing!:D

Just wait til you guys see the mellon on this guy! Looks like a coke machine with a microwave on top!

I'd go (again!:)) but I'm already booked on the 31st.

Anyone with an M-14 should go to this. Hungry won't steer you wrong.(and he'll stop your #### from falling off:D;))

I have all the tools but not M-14 can I still go :D

Hungry here: Darn rights you can, just don't have yer #### fall off! This is ####-loss prevention at the cutting edge. (pun intended). :)

Have a poke through all the stickies at the top of the MBR Forum because those techniques will be discussed and shown at my clinic! :D

It's gonna be a poopload of fun!

I would be interested in going but i am unable to drive, could i catch a ride with anyone? coffee, doughnuts and assistance with gas money would be provided!

I can't believe more guys haven't joined up for this yet.

If you own a M14 and haven't been to a Hungry clinic yet what are you waiting for. The info Hungry passes along is priceless and the jokes are pretty good to. :)

Even if you have been to one it nevers hurts to go back.

The previous one was excellent, well worth the time and good fun. How else for that kind of money can you both learn and index your barrel properly, shim the gas system, learn how to bed the action, evaluate your rifles components, etc.

Great news.... We have a volunteer'ed rifle and USGI glass stock for the glass bedding demonstration/project! So we will be doing a glass bed for all of you to see. Hopefully one day, all of you will be trying out this empowering project (you feel great after doing your first).

Cheers,
Barney
