This is a compilation of what everyone else said, some guidelines I will keep in mind as I get older and start group hunting more and more.
The People
a**holes will not be tolerated. If you only have one rule this should be it. If you are hunting with down to earth people with common sense you likely won’t need any more rules. Nobody should be guaranteed a position in next year’s camp, if everyone has the idea in their mind that they could be ‘voted out’ of the gang, they will likely be far more considerate of everyone else. No obvious, malicious disregard for laws that would get the whole group in crap or you're gone. Having said that, if someone makes an honest/rookie mistake that doesn’t mean that they automatically get tossed.
Common sense should prevail.
Organization and Pre-hunt preparation
Figure out how many, which vehicles, which trailers are being driven. Is anybody going up early, does anyone need to come home early, is anyone coming home late, and which vehicles they will be driving when. If you are moose hunting, someone needs to be responsible for organizing entering the draw, and everyone needs to co-operate with that person. Everyone needs to have all tags purchased WAY before leaving for the hunt.
Split the costs as best as you can (Grub list compiled and totaled. Everybody pays equal share before the shopping commences or don't show up to hunt). It isn’t always as simple as split it equally (although it is perfect if it can be). In some situations you might have some people who have more expendable income, if they choose to go over the top when buying supplies there should be some sort of split (i.e. if a $1500 outfitters tent will work, but one or two people have a hard-on for the $2500 tent they can pay the extra $1000 and not expect everyone else to pay for what they want UNLESS there is a majority consensus that the $2500 tent is the tent that better suits the needs of the group).
Everything is up for a vote, majority rules, if it is a tie the side with the most seniority wins.
Travel and set-up
If some is good enough to drive their truck all the way to Thunder Bay, they shouldn’t have to pay for a whole lot of their gas (unless they drive like an a**hole, for that see “The People”). Have your supplies in order well before you leave (a week), it will give you more time to see what you still need to get. When you finally arrive, no hunting before camp is set up...everyone helps. Hunting stopped when camp teardown started...everyone worked or you don't come back.
Food
The camp cook never washes the dishes. If you complain you’re the new cook. Everyone brings a meal and cooks their meal. No obvious waste of grub or serious complaints of meal plan or you're cooking next meal. If you’re a glutton make sure that everyone else has had their share before you clean everything up. If you’re the guy that is always polishing off all the dishes and/or eating all leftovers between meals, STOP!!! You’re not the only one with a stomach, think about everyone else fatty.
No gas release at meal time only!!! Farting actually encouraged otherwise. (Eagle160 gets credit for that one!)
General house keeping
First guy that grunts, speaks or motions as to how cold it is in the camp in the morning feeds the wood stove or gets pot of cold water over head and sleeping bag. If something needs to be done, do it. Lazy pigs can be reminded of this in a humorous way (think dirty dishes in bed/sleeping bag). No loaded guns within 50' of the camp. 1st infraction warning, 2nd infraction pack up and get out! Remember most volunteer groups have an 80/20 rule, 80% of the work is done by 20% of the people, everyone should try to be in that 20%.
Booze
Only ONE (12 ounce) beer at lunch, anymore and you stay at camp. No more booze until supper after all the guns are put away. Pure piss tanks will only be tolerate the 1st night at camp & last night. But you gotta be really funny or do something so stupid you pray it never leaves camp! What happens at camp stays at camp & can only be used against you next year at camp by those who witnessed your dumb azz behavior. Lights out after a majority vote, liquor pigs drank in the dark. No driving after alcohol consumption. If your hung over in the morning, you stay home. Nobody is allowed to babysit someone who has had too much to drink, if they want to fall asleep in a snow bank drag them back inside and don’t invite them back the next year.
If someone is an a**hole while they are drunk they are still an a**hole (see “The People”).
The Hunt
Have a plan for who is tagging what animal. If someone has to leave early it would make sense that they should tag the first animal. All tags are camp tags, decide in which order it makes the most sense for the group to attach tags. Nobody hunts for their own meat, it took the group to get there and set up, and everyone should reap the rewards.
If you are pushing a bush make a plan and stick to it, nobody needs to be a hero. Dogging privileges re divided equally (unless someone is too frail/physically handicapped, being fat isn’t an excuse). You miss a shot; a notch gets cut in rim of your hat (think twice before you shoot).
No chicken or rabbit shooting while hunting deer. Guns down, hats off for 1 min. at 11:11am during Remembrance Day, many good men have died so for all of us, it is the least that we can do for them.
The Kill
You killed it you clean it (old/frail, physically handicapped are exceptions). Some people may need long gloves to cover up their skin to deal with allergies. If an animal is wounded a plan should be made and put into place. If it is the last tag obviously the entire group should be assembled and the animal found. Nearby group members should come and help with the search.
If there is a group member that happens to have exceptional tracking abilities they should be kept updated as to know if their skills are needed (they don’t need to be bothered to follow a deer that is bleeding heavily).
Meat handling and distribution
This can be a grey area, different groups have different rules.
If you are hunting on the day of a kill you get your share (too hung over to hunt see ‘Booze’ no meat for you)
Or
We did divide the kills evenly so all had some meat (some years less or more) obviously depending on success
On second thought the best rule would be don’t hunt with people that you need a bunch of rules to get along with.
