Does anyone know who offers a hunter education course in Edmonton? (besides AHEIA). I am registered for one being put on by AHEIA in March, but it is 2 weeknights plus all day Saturday and Sunday. I've been looking for one for awhile but that's the best I've found so far. Thanks

you can take the home study course. check with AHEIA for info.

No expert, but I am pretty sure you must be 18 to challenge the test. Don't know how old Matt is????

I know some hunter ed instructors, but they are a long way from Ed. It seems a rotten course to instruct, students just want to challenge, and those that take it are punching the clock even moreso that the PAL students.

I know about 4 or 5 qualified, but none want to teach it.

I run between 15 and 30 young adults and adults a year through our local hunter ed course. The course is supposed to run 26 hours and we do it in about 20, six two hour weeknights, and a saturday.
Even those folks ordered by a judge (as part of their wildlife infraction sentence) have told me they enjoyed it and it was worthwhile. We have at least six instructors, each one the best for that particular subject.
I have had students who have taken the course from me over twenty years ago tell me how they enjoyed the course.
The Alberta course is one of the best in North America. Well worth taking if the instructors do their part.
