Hunter orange protects dogs too

Good idea, if i had a hunting dog id consider it cheap insurance lol

My dog wears a vest like that. It protects her underside as well.

In our close quarters down here in the Lower Mainland orange on a human is really essential. Hunting hedgerows and high grass with MANY other hunters most of whom run flushing dogs you have to be aware of who is around you.I agree orange while big game hunting is something else but with birds flushing + excitement have been sprayed more than once so am all for upland hunters knowing me and the dog are here.

Where the hell do you upland bird hunt in the Lower Mainland!? I thought you had to drive for hours to find anywhere with a decent number of birds? (not counting waterfowl of course)

You mention a club in your other post? Can you give more details on that too?

Bet your case for careless use of firearm sky rockets if your dog is wearing orange. i know deer hunting the thought of plinking off a coyote is always on my mind, but we also hunt other peoples land. and i better damn well know its a coyote because it could be a dog enjoying its own , owners land.
and goodluck ever hunting on it again if you shoot the owners dog.

the collar thing is a non issue if you put a gps collar on.. other then drowning in fast moving water.. if you let it trot around it should have gps or atleast a beeper collar. ive been there when a dog (puppy) normal collar got caught in a tree in the bush and they didnt find it for 5 days.. thing wouldnt bark but eventually found it still alive not far from the starting point . if you can beep the collar you find the dog in 30 minutes or less. if you go no collar and it chooses to run away you are not finding it

Great pic. Makes me smile. Apparently I need to get out of the city more and that pic reminds me why.

Thanks for sharing the location! In my formative years as a kid my friends and I were lucky enough to explore logging roads west of Port Alberni at our leisure, many miles from home, unsupervised. Seems I am now hard-wired for such places. Unsurprisingly, Vancouver isn't cutting it, even after several decades. And something about your dog in the image makes it have more impact on me. It's not the Browning logo, but that does help. :)

And I hear you about the cabin. I shudder to consider what would happen if our overlords didn't keep us safe from ourselves.

Again, thanks for sharing.

At first light i was sitting on the edge of a huge long beaver pond with a moose call . At the other end were huge boulders , as big as cars . I'd been calling for about an hour when a wolf stepped out from behind a boulder about 125 yards away . I decided to take it . Had the cross hairs on it and was taking up the trigger when a guy stepped into my field of view from behind a different boulder but no more than 5 yards from the wolf . About an hour later i ran into the guy and told him what had happened and offered him a few feet of blaze orange flagging tape to tie around his shepards neck . Nice guy and in fact we stood there and had a coffee . He was going to order a vest for this dog but never got around to it . I hope he did .
