HUNTER ORANGE REGULATIONS FOR HUNTING IN ONTARIO

I want to do some small game hunting (in WMU 87) but I am unsure of the Hunter Orange requirements.

Do I have to wear Hunter Orange while there is an open gun season for dear/moose in any of the WMU's?

OR..do I only have to wear hunter orange while there is an open gun season for dear/moose in the WMU I plan to hunt in?

Will I ever need hunter orange while hunting small game in WMU 87 ?

thanks.

i belive that you only need the hunter orange while hunting BIG Game but to be SAFE i always where the Orange while hunting (400" plus hat )

HUNTING WOLVERINES IN ALASKA!?

GOD WHAT DO YOU THINK? IT WAS FLIPPIN' SWEET!

Will I go back next year?`HECK YES!

I need to find some chap-stick. My lips hurt real bad, cuz the wind was like 200 mph!

What the heck would you do on a situation like that?

Page 21 of the Regs:

"The objective of the hunter orange regulation is to maximize hunter safety without negatively impacting hunting success. Under this regulation, all licensed hunters, including archery hunters hunting during the gun season for deer and moose, are required to wear hunter orange. As well, all black bear hunters hunting during the black bear season are required to wear hunter orange except when in a tree stand."

Therefore, if there is a gun season for deer or moose where you are hunting, you have to wear hunter orange. Keep in mind this also applies if you are hunting bear during a gun season for deer or moose.

Hope this helps.
Paul.

It is wise to wear hunter orange while hunting small game. It doesn't hurt your chances so why is it even an issue? If you're in the bush chasing groue wearing full camo, and someone shoots in your direction.. in my opinion you're partly at fault. Someone shooting a grouse on the wing isn't gonna make sure of the back stop.. you could BE the tree behind the grouse. Orange makes sure that others know you're there.

My opinon, if you're out hunting small game where there are other hunters and you're not wearing orange, then you're an idiot. :)

X2. I may not meet the full 400 sq. in. requirement unless the law requires it but always wear blaze orange when upland hunting.

Yep the regs are pretty clear. Unless your a waterfowl or archery hunter or on privae property you must where orange whilst hunting. Guess what deer in most regions incl southern ont and bears wherever prob not in southern ont are in season meaning you might want to wear that orange to avoid being shot by someone with their finger on the trigger. also if you wear orange they may see you and thus avoid a future injury or casualty with the foreknowledge of your loc. Where a hat and or some item vest/shirt/jacket with orange at least.
