Hunter safety do i need it if i have my PAL and RPAL

I am having a debate with a few co-workers regarding Hunter safety here in Saskatchewan. A few people say that I need my Hunter Safety and others dont because I already have my PAL and RPAL, I just want to get it straight before hunting season opens Nov 1
 
Manitoba requires you to have a hunter safety certificate (or whatever they've decided to call it this week) before you can purchase a hunting license. All the gun stuff is dealt with separately. If you had the hunter safety before about 1993 it was accepted as the non restricted training for your PAL. This confuses some people, but the firearm safety courses and hunter safety are two completely different things.
Grab a copy of the Saskatchewan game regs, it should tell you all the requirements you need to meet there.

Thanks Ill do that right away, if I need it I will be doing a online test pretty quickly
 
From the Saskatchewan Hunter and Trappers Guide "People born after January 1, 1971, must graduate from a Firearm Safety/Hunter Education course in order to hold or apply for a Saskatchewan game or fur licence. These individuals should be prepared to present proof of training when purchasing or applying for a licence." It's a one-time thing.

Thank you, looks like ill be doing a online course in the next day or two
 
Firearms are a Federal regulation if you choose to have and use firearms. Hunting regulations are Provincial and you need to meet the Provincial requirements if you choose to hunt.

I think I know where some of the confusion is from. If you go for your CORE certificate, there's several sections, including one on firearms handling. If you have your PAL/RPAL, you can get credit for just that one part of the CORE. You still have to complete the rest of the course/testing though.
 
You can be a sport and hobby shooter with your PAL/RPAL but don't hunt and never need a hunting license.


Or you can be a bow hunter with a hunting license and never need a PAL.


Option 3, You want to use firearms to hunt, so you need hunter course/license, and firearm course/license.
