I am interested in attending a Hunter Safety Instruction and testing course that will lead to my acquisition of an Ontario Hunting Licence. Can someone let me know the costs and what is not covered compared to the full Hunter Safety Training Course?

Are the Study Books available Prior to the course anywhere?

Regards,

Brian

My advice is prior to taking the course read this forum for any questions about hunting in Ontario. It will help you understand some of the regs better. Also pick up a copy of the MNR regs and read them, they are online as well.

Thanks, I'm north east of Toronto the place i was going to head to does not have the "Full" course and I'm not sure what I'll be missing at this point.

its 225 one stop 3 days usually but that includes your PAL which if you don't have i suggest you get it regardless....that comes with books too and testing etc etc.

We took a 2 day course and our PALs are on the way back to us in order to send off again

When you write the CFSC or the CRFSC in Ontario the instructor/tester sends the actual test to Orillia to be validated. Once that is done the test is then mailed to the person who wrote it to be sent to the CFC out east.

Unfortunately some testers were caught up in a scam where they were just giving the answers to the people being tested and the result was one extra step of time wasting BS for everyone else in Ontario.

Give your local sporting shop a call, they can usually lend a hand. I know the guys at Williams Arms in Port Perry as well as the guys at Accuracy Plus in Peterborough will give you some direction.
