This a cold, hard truth that people need to hear over and over again.

Just because you CAN vote... doesn't mean you should.

If you have NO CLUE what the issues are that affect yourself and everyone around you and only vote based on "feelings" or what the neighbor told you was right... or even worse... what the TV told you...

Please do NOT vote.

A 20 question multiple choice on the top pollitcal issues since the last election, maybe there could be a basic standard to get to vote and then depending on how engaged and correct answers given the votes would be weighed on the same scale.

I was talking with an older woman who has not passed prior to the last election.... she was suffering from confusion that comes with old age and was unsure of who to vote for. I told her that the parties today are not the parties of 30 years ago.... things have changed and if your not sure here is nothing wrong with not voting.

I couldn't imagine something less interesting to hear about in a podcast and this particular podcaster is annoying in his gloating manner.

That said, I don't think we're running out of hunters but we are running out of elephants so frankly we're going to need a lot more hunters trampled to get these numbers up. Trophy hunting and killing for sport in general is a game for the weak and pathetic. Being trampled by your own 'prey' is even more laughable. He should have stayed home and worked his way up from gophers.

Agreed. And I note that a person doesn't have to be of "the left" (whatever that means) to share this opinion of trophy hunting. An opinion bequeathed to me by my old Dad who was most definitely not of the "the left" and never needed a scope on either of the 2 rifles with which he took many, many deer here in BC.

I know this might come as a shocker to you guys who clearly know nothing about what you’re whining about, but elephants are actually overpopulated in some areas and hunting/culling is both necessary and beneficial for the herd. But, don’t let facts get in the way of showing everyone you’re as clueless as the guy in the video.


The funniest part about you guys whining about elephant hunting? He wasn’t even hunting elephants! He was after impala or antelope when they mistakenly encountered the elephants with a calf.

I think hunters and conservationists should always cheer for both prey and predator. Taking a lion hunting a wildebeest; it's completely Okay to cheer for the lion to succeed while cheering on the wildebeest to escape and live. That's the natural world which we are part of.

I have zero issues with a hunter being trampled to death and for the prey to succeed and potentially live another day. Humans have been killed by animals for as long as we've been part of this world. We've simply evolved and gotten better at it.

My limits are how you cheer one's success over the other. It says a lot about who you are as a person, but let's not kid ourselves, this forum is riddled with people cheering on other people's death based solely on political disagreements.

In recent years, my wife's political leanings have strayed a looooong way from mine, so much so that I am constantly hearing in the background the babblings of some of her favourite podcasters. It ain't pretty. She practically worships at the altar of that insane garden gnome Charlie Angus, and the Meidas Touch whiner's droning nasal voice is a constant background hum each morning while we have coffee. But today, she came across this piece by another of her faves, whose site is called "Farron Balanced". That name is a joke when you listen to this guy. I won't comment further; he can't open his mouth without saying something stupid that just pisses me off, and that's just when he sticks to his political preferences. Now that he's decided that the world needs the benefit of his intellect applied to other topics, I'm just going to post a link to this tirade, and then bow out.

I hope everything is going ok at home... I think it'd be hard to have a wife with radically different political views. Particularly if those views have "strayed" from where she was. (Assuming that you guys were initially on the same page, more or less.)

My wife used to be a "lefty"... Now she's drifted so far right it scares me sometimes:

* Chemtrails
* Israel is funding every heinous activity - including the assassination of Charlie Kirk
* Candice Owens is awesome
* Jewish space lasers are responsible for the fires on Maui

Given that I'm pretty far "right" of center, it's more fun than anything, but if she were an NDP supporter, I think that'd put some stress on the family.

Not to mention sport hunting in Africa has been beneficial overall for wildlife there. Looking past the fact that the hunter kills an animal is required. The local economy makes millions from sport hunting on the continent. Local people see wildlife as a renewable source of employment and capital. Not as likely to poach large mammals and sell parts of them on the black market. More likely to report poaching if their livelihood is threatened.
As mentioned cries of "endangered species" are picked up by the ignorant. Many large animals are actually overpopulated in some locales leading to culling by game officers. Too much conflict with humans due to growing human populations expanding into wild habitat with farming operations. Its a complicated issue to say the least.

Steve Rinella from Meateater went to Africa last year, and did a few podcasts on location with the Professional Hunter. The PH talks about how most of their trackers are people who grew up poaching as a way of life and have since transitioned to working on the legal side of the line.

Yes, Sir Samuel Baker has a 2 bore gun for elephants fired a half pound lead ball. Later in life said he regretted ever having anything to do with it as it affected his shooting so badly due to terrific recoil. It was named "baby."

Just checked the list, 182 currently. Some of those are people I just don't want to do any trading with, either due to bad encounters or because their expressed opinions, indicated a lack of integrity. It is a nice feature to have when your memory is as bad as mine.
