Hunters, Deer Ticks & Lyme disease

Another thing to remember is a tick likes it warm, and that is why they try to attach themselves to a furry host like a dog or coyote or deer. So when checking yourself for ticks after a day in the field or woods, check thoroughly around the base of your head, bellybutton ,armpits, etc.

I know of a poor 11yr old kid who's horrified mom had to bring him to the doctor to have two ticks removed from his scrotum. Glad to say I don't know the whole story. I do know the boy was traumatized. The ticks were tested and luckily the boy was not infected with lyme. They live in Waterdown ON and the kid had been riding his bike and playing in back yards of friend's in town and his own yard.
Actually my kids just told me he had three ticks on him, we don't know were the third tick was attached. And the family dog had a tick removed from it's belly
