Hunters please help identify these tracks

Thanks for the responses. I didn't think it was a cat because the neighbors cat comes around sometimes, he is fairly big for a domestic, and his tracks, although similar, are quite a bit smaller. Plus the spray is fairly high up on the house sometimes as much as 2 feet. Also the scat smelled of dog crap and the spray smells unlike any cat marking I've smelt before. That being said a neighbor a while back swore he saw a dog sized linx behind his house but no one has seen it since. The tracks always come from the valley that the house is near and never from across the road where all the other houses are (i'm the only house on this side).

I'm never there to use the SSS option when the act happens and it also happens infrequently. Is there a sent I could buy to spray around that would scare whatever it is off? I think the cam is a good idea. I'll see if I can get a cheap one.

Fox tracks are perfectly straight like ---------- one in front of the other like when a cop asks you to walk the line, they will also try to use the same footprint hole if they are on their way back. A coyote's tracks aren't straight, they are staggered like -_-_-_-_ and they don't tend to use the same footprints on the way back. Dog's prints are the most staggered.

I would go with the SSS solution here!

I think a trail cam to start ...so as to identify the culprit and then determine if SSS is the appropriate measure .
I was late to the party of that (tc) suggestion and if the OP wants to spray something around to scare off the critter maybe some coyote urine from a trappers supply store, but that would defeat the purpose of the offending scent.
Anyone have a spare to lend the OP?

Live trap works well for cat sized animals. Recently set one for a skunk and guess what, bagged a cat. :)

Thanks for the advice on the tracks. they definitely were not in a line but were slightly staggered and were in a circuit not doubling back re using the same tracks. When this first happened I thought coyote because I have also seen them in the area. I'll let you know what the cam pics up. It will be a lot easier to remedy once I'm living there.

Thanks again,

Very small cat not lynx or bobcat too small
I have a stuffed lynx and the paws are way bigger
it could be a little lynx
its very small

I think you all are right about the cat. I saw for the first time a much larger tom in the area. Thanks again for the advice
