How many of you actually HUNT with your wee 22's? Post a pic or two and give us some details on your hunting wee rig. ;):D

My 64B took hundreds of gophers, and a couple grouse as a kid. CIL 125 is probably next on the gopher kill list, followed by a Mossberg 151, Win 9422Mag, etc. And an Anschutz 2000 has a dozen or so notches as well.

Here's Tiny Tina ... she has transformed a few times ... this is the final dress, barrel, trigger parts, etc I'm going to do ... hope you like her ... she gets to shoot geese and seals for me. POST PICS of your hunting 22's ... bolt action, semi's, etc. :D

She's a Ruger 10/22 with new sear, hammer and bolt hold parts internally, a butler creek stock and a butler creek barrel(target model 10/22 barrel stainless), A leupold 3x9-40 Vari X II scope and I'll be putting on a Butler Creek neoprene sling.

Ruger 10/22, stripped and buffed receiver, 11.5" ER Shaw SS barrel, Leupold FX II 2.5x20mm, Leupold PRW rings (low) Power Custom rail, VQ extended bolt handle and extractor. Butler Creek target stock. (checkering sanded off, buffed finish) Trigger assembly internals have been polished.

My grouse gun!

In that last pic, you are misusing the extension tube on that Bush red dot. It's only to be used in long action rifles to provide an area for the ring to grab onto.

Well, you're misusing it unless your intended use is 'looking cool', then job well done.

The sunshade is on there to reduce or eliminate reflections.
It also has a polarized filter attached to the end of it.
IF NEED BE, you could also use it to gain extra space between front and rear rings on a extra long firearm.

If you consider "smoke checking" gophers hunting, heres my Anschutz 1418 with a Leupold 4.5x-14x VX-3.

It's a great little gun. Perfect scope for a .22 with the adjustable AO.

Savage MKII wearing a 4X Simmons. Great, cheap gun! I don't really like bolt guns, but I do like this one. This is it's first year with me. The cheek weld is terrible though.

Ruger 96/22 wearing a 10/22 compact barrel w/ FO sights. Very happy with this one, its nice, light and works flawlessly.

This is my first gun. 10/22R, Mueller APV scope, trigger job... This one has taken alot of gophers.

...And the hunting rig... The Savage is making an appearance here.

Notice the "high end" rifle rests being used...

Read the manual again. The manual references a sunshade which comes with some models or can be purchased separately. There's a picture of it. That's not it, it's an extension tube.

Yes, the UV filter can also be attached directly to the tube without the extension tube.

I love the 5 shot magazine. Mine came with a 10 round mag and I can buy tons of replacements at WSS but what I really want is a 5 round magazine.

Wanna trade? :D

pffffffff......
What do you think a sunshade is?? Not an extended tube?
A sunshade and an "extension tube" are the same thing with different names!
Didn't your mamma ever tell you not to believe everything you read and only half of what you see? :D :p

I have a 5 and 10 round mag, but the 10 round is not reliable. I would think it could be modified, but I've just been using the 5-er.

Never mind the guns we all have them in one form or another!!!! BUT you gotta love the hunting rig...........I had a similar one in a 74 Chev 3/4ton after my daughter rolled it. She was fine but the truck ended up like your Ford. That was a few years back and I sure miss that rig.............TBG.:(

10 round for me is super reliable. Maybe there's something wrong with yours? You can buy them for $20. I just want the 5 round because it's lower profile. The 10 round keeps getting caught on things.

She's got the 460 in 'er too! It's used as a farm truck when she's not "hunting".

While not a "pure" .22, I have carried this combo for over 40 years, hunting chicken, partridge, skunks. I have shot a fair few gophers with it as well.
