Hunting air rifle recommendation for varmint & small game.

I just bought a Benjamin NP Trail yesterday. I did a side by side comparo with my Diana 34 this morning for sound. I'd guess the sound of the Benjamin was about 40 to 50% less than the Diana. The vibration on firing was significantly less.

If you bought an NP... you will like it... You need this as well,

Very good upgrade,

Cheers,

I also have the Benjamin Nitro Trail NP XL in .25, and it is amazingly quiet, amazingly powerful, and extremely accurate so far (still greaking in). Squirrels and magpies shot with JSB Exact Kings are pass throughs, even out to 32 yards, which is my farthest shot on a squirrel. Sounds like a click, that's all. My wife knows I have it, and when I shot out the door, she was in the other room and didn't know what it was. Awesome! BTW, you link doesn't work, Rule911, what is the upgrade?

Thanks guys for replying.. a question about NP trail vs NP trail XL... is the extra power worth it? (is there a noticable increase in size and noise?)

For example, I imagine XL may break the sound barriers of 1126 ft/s.

Thanks.

Mine is the Nitro Trail NP XL, and it is definitely worth it, UNLESS you get the .177. In .22 or .25, you won't break the speed of sound unless you use PBA ammo (which is useless, BTW), and even then not in the .25. Another great possibility is to get the .177 and use really heavy pellets. I've seen pellets in the neighbourhood of 16 grains in .177, that would keep down the velocity, but the penetration would be spanky! BTW, those pellets are all for sale at pyramydair.com.

Were did you get yours? Anyone know of a source that has a website?

Steve.

LeBaron has the best price, but is notorious for not having stock of anything you want. And you have to shop by pdf and phone in your order, unless you live close. XL versions are listed as ES Series (model #s match).
D&L has the best selection, but highest prices.

Hatsan AT-44 PCP in 22 cal. Easily modded to shoot 900 plus fps, 10 shot repeater. Basic gun cost $350, needs a scuba tank and adapter to fill.

Not true, airgunsource has the NP XL 725 (the one I have) for $349.95, it is only $324.99 at D & L. The Lebaron's hunting catalog wasn't ready yet, so I couldn't check their price. I got mine from D & L, and my only complaint was that I couldn't have pellets shipped in the same package as the gun (thank you, communist BC!). The gun showed up on my door like 3 days later.

NP Upgrade,

Link to the trigger upgrade...

Cheers,

Well worth the dollars,

My mistake. AGS and D&L trade best prices between various models, except the 3 LeBaron offers, especially if you're a club member.
