Most of my successful hunts have been when I was alone.
Do it alot , as well as at the target range.
Only very "special" people are allowed to see my tricks n' tactics .

it depends what you mean by hunting alone... If you mean just going out by your self for a weekend with no one around then ya i think its crazy and would never do it. But if you have a group of people and you all go split up and go down different roads alone and you set a time and place that you are going to meet then thats fine and Ive done it many times.

Why not?

If I didn't Hunt "Alone" and relied on matching up schedules with Buddies to plan Hunting trips I'd Never get out or at least not half as much as I now do.

Not saying I do not enjoy a "Group" trip once in awhile but for the most part I Hunt alone:)

I do all the time unless I'm taking a client but the caveat here is that in the UK you are rarely far from help, mobile phone coverage or a metalled road.

i do 90% of my hunting alone. its more dangerous in the city than the bush.

tell someone where your going and when you'll be back so they know where to look for you if your a few days late. if your at all scared of the bush, don't go alone. if something goes wrong you will panic, then your screwed.

I hunt alone quite a bit. I find its difficult at times with schedualing to find someone that can go out. I hunt ducks, grouse, wolf and bunnies on my own altough I always let someone know where i'll be going.
When it comes to safety I dont see hows being alone is any worse than having a partner as long as you have some knowledge of the outdoors..........................

No roads, no cell phones, no TY, no NUTHIN'!!
EXCEPT, peace, solitude, and being one with nature.
Some can cut their own trail, others can follow it.....

What the heck is a "metalled road"?
The term in use here for a properly surfaced with Tarmac highway.
No Hi jack alert. If I wanted solitude I'd head north to Scotland. Here I can be home in an hour tops.
Part of the attraction is the hunting on my doorstep so to speak and all reasonably close to civilisation. I walked a client around a wood this afternoon and we heard deer bark, watched squirrels and pheasants. nothing much to shoot at buta nice walk around anyhow!

i go by the rule: safety first, enviornment second and production third. I just really think its not all that safe if you just say hey i feel like going hunting and telling no one where you are going or when you are going to be back. Like I've said I'll go down diffrent roads and such by my self but always someone knows where I am going to be.

I was a little hesitant about huntign alone when I first moved here from the south. I was a little afraid of getting lost because there wasnt a farm or a fence every 400meters or so like down south where I grew up.

No problem now, I would head to the bush on a 2 week hunt by myself no problem. I would probably tell someone where I was going but thats not much comfort. If you have an accident the second day an know you have to wait 12 days just for the search to start.....

Take the outfitters tent, boat, atv some beers...........this is starting to sound like a plan.

Kiwis do it all the time including their women folk. They just have regular sat phone call in times. No call and the food blender gets sent!

First off, I'm just guessing here, but I think most folk's idea of hunting by themselves does'nt mean driving down a road. I think they mean the whole hunting experience, travel, camping, hunting. And I bet they don't set up camp on the side of the road. Or hunt there for the most part.

One other thing for consideration, once you figure out a spot you like to hunt in you don't always want to tell people exactly where you are going. Cuz they'll tell two friends, and they'll tell two friends.....and before you know it, your favorite spot becomes grand central station. Good luck seeing any game or finding any peace and quiet.

Not saying if you are heading off to the wilderness even for one day that you shouldn't let someone know what area you are going to and maybe what time to expect you back.

If safety is paramount, get out from behind the wheel and go for a walk. Driving while gawking out the side window is not safe.:p
