Here's a loaded question (no pun intended) that might cause some fuss....

What is the most expensive ammunition that you can use for hunting. With .308NM still at $100 plus tax per box made me wonder what other ammo is pricey? Surely there has to be something more expensive so I don't feel so bad ordering a box!

In Grande Prairie Alberta 416 Rigby was $299.00 for 20/ 400gr TSX Federal.
I heard that the Nitro 470 is over 400.00 but have no need to prove it.
I am happy Hornady made Rigby ammo $89.99 a box. Norma brass is 60.00/20 empty so thats a deal for the Hornady.

Norma's 416 Rigby with 400 Swift's (20) retails for about $ 140.00,
Hornady's about the same. Federals, about twice as much.

Norma 470NE's are a little over $ 400 for 20.

Norma's 505 Gibbs about $ 475.00 for 20.
( With tax, a little over $ 25 each time you pull the trigger !
.... ouch, all the way around ! )

5 rounds of 700 Nitro will cost you $390 ($78 a round) if you get it from a large retailer.

IF you get it from someone like H&H it is going to be closer to $100 a round. That is $2000 if it came in a regular box of 20. Not a big deal since while your there picking up your rifle which would cost over $100,000 you would certainly bring a few extra bucks for incidentals.

Kynock ammo is only $50 a round, but that's the "cheap stuff" and everyone knows you need top shelf when hunting Africa.

Not a big deal since while your there picking up your rifle which would cost over $100,000 you would certainly bring a few extra bucks for incidentals.

I handled a 577 Nitro in a Holland Royal at SCI. It was priced close to $200K US. My money says that a 700 would be well over $200K and maybe closer to $300K.

Now the prototype Round Action in 500 I handled should be a real beauty...but it's still $75K US.
