Most if not all people hunting ducks/geese where lots of shots are fired use ear pro and or electronic ear pro. Interested in hearing feedback from the deer hunters who are rocking electronic ear pro. I never used ear pro for deer/bear hunting where the most of 1-2 shots would be fired, up until a couple of years ago. I now consider it part of my needed hunting equipment. I started off using howard leight pro but found them uncomfortable and hurting my head after a few hours, moved to peltor tac 100's and they are 1000x more comfortable to have on for hours at a time.

I’ve been using Howard Leight’s for a couple years now, I upgraded the factory pads last year to a gel pad. It’s night and day for comfort plus they have a relief cut for sunglasses, Noisefighters makes gel pads for most brands of ear pro. There’s some pics in the thread link below, I wouldn’t be caught hunting or shooting without them as I have had tinnitus since I was a kid.

I use Walkers electronic muffs when I hunt turkey. I too consider it required equipment. It allows me to hear everything that is happening around me without the need of too much movement. The only thing that is an issue at times is that it can distort your senses...meaning sounds that appear to be coming from a direction may in fact be coming from somewhere else.

Very interested myself in getting a set. Never had them or hunted with them before and now that my left ear has been ringing since the November deer hunts One shot i took, looks like i need something. Wish i wore something when duck hunting all those years of close blasting in blinds. December shotgun deer I ran with just one left ear plug in to see how that went. Still felt like i could hear a bit but didn't love it. No idea what models to look at.

I never wear ear pro when hunting. I tried once coyote hunting because i was using a very aggressive brake so i needed the protection. Used walkers razor. Great protection. Great sound amplifying. A turkey gobbled 2 fields over and scared the living #### out of me. If you thought squirrels were loud before you will hate the amplified speakers. I could easily hear them 100 yards away.
I ended up removing the brake

Plugging my ears distorts my balance. The razors have enough air room inside the cup that i can sit or stand or even slowly walk without to much distortion. At the range they cut out immediately and have an amazing attack response. Comfortable to wear as well.

I have been using Walker Razors for deer and bear hunting for a few seasons now. It can make it difficult to determine which direction a sound is coming from, but still worth it to not have your ears ringing for the rest of the day after a shot. Takes a little bit of practice to not clack the muff on your stock when shouldering the rifle.

This started me looking around and found the local Cabelas has the Walkers Razor on sale for $65 down from reg $130. With a pair of safety glasses! I picked up a pair yesterday. Hoping they work out and I like them. I'll have to try them out for turkey, goose, deer and range shooting.
Anyone else have walkers Razor's and have feedback?

I'm looking forward to the day when electronic ear buds are manufactured to perfection: a battery pod (AA, AAA, 9v etc)clipped inside a hat, no static just tinnitus and pure sound as collected by the external ear (and direction detection naturally accomplished)... such a device would be worth more than electronic muffs of comparable performance.

To all the guys that are using these electronic earmuffs while hunting, I am curious how they perform on windy days? Is the wind noise amplified? I think it is a fantastic idea to use them if they are not a handicap.
I took one shot this season with my friends 6.5x284 gunwerks, and didn't realize it had a brake on it. He had black tape over the muzzle and didn't warn me. It blasted my ears so loudly that I felt stunned for a few seconds. Luckily it was just shooting at a stump and not an animal because had it been a real shot and a bad one, it would have delayed my second shot by a few seconds......

It varies. If it's a really stiff wind you'll get rustling. Under normal conditions it's not noticeable at all. If the wind is really, really bad I'll just turn off the mic.

I'm running Howard Light impact sports.

I take mine off when it is windy, Peltor tac 100, as I find the wind noise really irritating. I don't wear them when they're turned off because I don't like being deaf either. I do like the amplified sound on usable days but I am not really enamored of the directional nature of said sound. I want to try a set of the Quad Razors when they go on sale next to see if they are better.

The nice thing with electronic muffs is you can turn them down to the normal level of ambient noise your ears receive if you aren’t wearing them, when it’s really windy out I turn down the volume till the wind noise is no different than if I wasn’t wearing them. Then your hearing is still protected if you take a shot, it’s one thing I like about them. The volume control is nice to have, turn it up when you need it or turn it down or off if you like. I’ve never found them to be a handicap, I won’t be caught shooting or hunting without them.
