How do the muffs work wih a toque?

I wear a thin one that doesn't quite cover my ears and then put the muffs on top. Not perfect but works OK.

How do the muffs work wih a toque?

I put muffs on, then wear my xl toque over top, makes me look like I have a giant head. And as far as wind goes on really windy days I just turn the volume down a bit I haven't found it an issue.
