I don't know about any of you guys out there, but I am sooo very anxious for the opening of any season right about now!! Is it just me or does the time seem to stand still from the spring turkey and bear hunt until the fall duck, moose & deer hunt?!?! One more week till duck opener & 2 weeks till mooose!! Ahhhhhhh!

I leave Monday night for Matane moose. When I get back, my wife and I are considering taking the pooch to a Reserve Faunique for woodcock and grouse. We should be right into "goose mayhem" by then. I drive around close to home and see where they are landing and then ask the farmer for permission to hunt the following day. Ducks usually take a little longer to get moving, then it's 5am and down to the riverbank in my back yard with a few wood duck decoys and I hunt until the sun comes up. Then out for goose until 11am. Home, lunch, and if I'm feeling up to it, out to a small 40 acre forest nearby for grouse, woodcock, and rabbit bonuses. Before you know it, it's deer season.

Lots of people are getting ready - I was at the range last Sunday and it was madness. My range allows "walk-ins" for $20 so we end up with a bunch of people who are not familiar with the rules. The range officers are about to have nervous breakdowns.

Usually I get quite exited about hunting season. But for some reason, not this year. We start duck season on the 20th and still I don't have the jitters like I usually get. Maybe the weather is still to warm or I have too much things on my mind. Hopefully this will change by Monday.

I don't think I'm curing my jitters - just making them worse!! I have been reading "Big Buck" magazines & every hunting article I can find on the net....
If anything, I think it's intensifying them!! Maybe sighting my rifle in at the club will help!!

for some reasons for me its a very "jittery" time this year, never had it before, Im itching to get a migratory licence, even though I dont like waterfawl
maybe Im sitting at home too much

I think we all get the jitters. We leave in about 2 weeks for Moose hunting. Can't wait to get up there. Lots of running around now getting everything ready.

I always start getting pumped around this time of year when I go out at night and the air starts getting crisp I just know deer hunting is near. The closer the season gets, the more and more I want to drive the 1.5hrs and check on my trail cam to see whats lurking around.

Picked up my ML tag, General rifle, Upland, Migratory yesterday guns are clean clothes are washed. I am allready starting to wake up at 6AM.
OH SO VERY SOON
Pete.....:):):)

I am leaving on Tuesday night next week. I have been going counting the day for a while now. Can't wait to get out there. Good luck to you all.

I get very giddy before season opener, I know all about the anxiety.
I scouted until dark the night before deer opened here. Barely slept all night, watching the clock for it to say 4:15. I am buring the candle at both ends this week. Early morning hunts before work, and walks until dark after work. I love hunting season. I figure that you can sleep when you are dead.

Well what do you know, My yearly jitters are back. It started on Saturday when we took a trip to our deer hunting spot to check up on our blinds. The leaves have started changing colors. The nights are getting colder. Yes I love this time of year! I just picked up my water fowl and small game permits last night. Duck starts on Saturday and deer is in November. Can't wait!

Can't sleep, can't eat, can't WAIT!

CAN drink however??

2 Sleeps before departure to moose camp!

Good luck all, can't wait to see the pics!

I'm all worked up over the opener for ducks.Have not hunted ducks since lead shot was banned.I am more excited for my 15yr old son than I am for myself though.
