Whitetail numbers are down considerably this fall. Lots of coyotes and some decent upland shooting for sharptail and ruffed. Good elk herd around those parts but on a draw system. Fishing limited mainly to the Assiniboine River where a vast number of species can be caught. If you enjoy the outdoors you won't be bored around Shilo.

a good buddy of mine is there now and all he ever talks about is hunting and shooting. i figure since the wife left might as well take the posting in mb. what are these gophers everyone talks about?

I hunt carberry every year.... No shortage of deer this year. Lots of wolf and coyote sign. Had to work a little harder to pattern them, but I saw good numbers of deer. Hunting in shilo has been hit and miss from what I hear. Elk hunting is landowner draw, or archery draw. Your only a couple hours from either the duck mountains, or riding mountain national park. Great fishing! Oak lake is 45 minutes to the west.

I grew up in Brandon, about 20min away from Shilo. I spent countless hours hunting deer, upland birds, and ducks/geese in the area. I dont think you will have any trouble finding spots to go, but like anything else it does take some effort to get permission and find good spots. Im sure there are allot of hunters/fisherman you will meet at work who may already have some good spots. For fishing, Oak lake was mentioned, Rivers lake, Ninette, Dauphin are all good ones.
