Hunting/bear defence 44mag ammo out of a 16 » barrel

So have we decided which factory round is best for Grizzly? I’m going out in a few days and my partner will be carrying his mares leg in 44rem mag.

Deadly bear encounters are pretty exaggerated in most circles, but carrying a 44rem mag is kind of like wearing a seat belt. You don’t know you need it until it’s too late.

Bear encounters are deliberately suppressed by Liberal, NDP, or Democrat Governments to give the illusion to the public that any dangers exist.....:(

It is a lot more difficult to suppress an actual death by mauling then it is to hide the attacks with minor or severe injuries. Our corrupt NDP Government shut down the Limited Entry Hunting (LEH) of grizzlies in 2017. This was done to cave into the great bear rain forest do-gooder groups, and other tree-hugging dopers. No science was involved, no thought process, just pure emotion of left-wing voters who the NDP love to support......:(

Recently these same wildlife groups threatened to sue the BC Conservation Officers (COS), to stop shooting bears in the line of duty. As a result, the COS caved in. Now black bear attacks have sky rocketed in the lower mainland of BC. Children and adults are attacked while lounging or playing on their decks........:(

Our tyrannical, corrupt, and useless NDP Government caters to drug users, criminals, losers, and the LGBTQ crowd who are mentally ill. They will lie, suppress, and hide any attacks they can get away with.

So no, bear attacks are not exaggerated as you so eloquently suggest........:( If anything, it's the exact opposite.....:(

I have two large male grizzlies in my yard (16 acres), again this year. We have had as many as six grizzlies one fall. There is a sustainable number of grizzlies in BC for a LEH, however the corrupt NDP will never allow grizzly hunting ever again.

I have heard the BC Guides & Outfitters of BC are taking part in a class-action suite against the NDP, however I do not have confirmation of this. I do know the BC Wildlife Federation supports a LEH Grizzly hunt in BC......:)

There are an estimated 15,000 to 16,000 grizzlies in BC, however biologists suggest that 20,000 is actually a more accurate estimation. 20,000 grizzly bears could easily sustain a LEH hunt. It's interesting that before the COS caved into the political outcry of the do-gooders, that the CO's actually shot and killed more grizzlies in the line of duty that were harvested in an average successful LEH harvest. One cannot make this sh!t up. However political theatrics and pressure can rule the narrative for all interested parties......:(

I have some Sierra 300grain #8630 sportsmaster projectiles loaded up. The COL maxes out the revolver cylinder it's hilarious, heavy crimp required to prevent a lock up. Haven't tried them in a rifle.

Super hard antimony lead alloy, doesn't deform much at all just sheds the jacket. Which is fine for brown and white bears and moose and not much else!

Thanks for this! However my math comes up with a measly $53,000.00 each. Not a lot of Jake considering the current lifetime ban on the grizzly hunt.......:(

Hopefully Eby and his band of bag-licking morons are defeated in our next provincial election. And we can only hope the Conservatives will bring back the LEH grizzly hunt.......:)

BC Liberal or NDP Governments have never been a good steward of nature, hunting, or the environment. They only cave in to minority idiots........:(

We can hope this might change with a Conservative Majority..........:unsure:

I have HARD CAST 310 gr Gas check bullets loaded over LOTs of H110 ! I've shot them into hard FIR and they way out penetrate a Cup and core bullet but they hardly expand !
The Assorted 300 gr Jacket cup and core bullets such as the Horn XTP and the Sierra JSP or Nosler JHP all are good but do not penertrate as far but do expand !

I'm sure the Barnes 44 REM MAG Buster 300 GR FN FB will be a good one too but limited expandsion like the hard Cast is ! I've never tried them to know .

Not sure I would agree on this , the .44 isn’t going particularly fast and it requires penetration to reach vitals . 45/70 driven fast (2000 fps) with 300gr hollow points will penetrate 30” . With 405gr non expanding hard cast at 1500 fps they have gone 72” and through the 1” plywood backstop in tests.
Of course every situation/ bear is different
 
For what’s its worth, my 44mag rifle will be my main rifle for shoot bears out of trees over hounds. And when I am setting baits, just piddling around in bear country any time of the year I carry my 357 mag rifle for protection/to have just in case. 44 mag will do what you are asking

If we lived in a free country I'd pack a Ruger SP101 357 Mag when I'm out and about.
