I have my Nova Scotia wildlife card and a few guns.

Thinking about going hunting. Maybe for rabbit.

How do I go about finding a spot? Is there a listing for crown land I hunt on? Can I learn how to dress an animal from YouTube or books?

What do I need to know before get my wildlife stamp and going into the woods?

When you get your Wildlife Habitat Stamp, they'll also give you a printed summary of regulations; inside this booklet you'll find a bunch of minimum exclusion distances wherein one cannot discharge (or possess) a loaded firearm.
You'll need to learn these distances. You can get maps from the map store <https://geonova.novascotia.ca/maps>; we must always know where we're at.
When you're reading these maps, looking for likely habitat, you'll need to apply the minimum exclusion distances to them, so that you don't fall afoul of the law (inadvertantly).

Can I learn how to dress an animal from YouTube or books?

YouTube is great resource. You'll watch a few videos...some will be better than others...and then you'll be good to go.

As was mentioned above YouTube is an excellent source. You can either hunt crown land or ask local landowners for permission. Be respectful and you should get a yes from someone.

Im in nova scotia and i hunt ( well second year) i tought my self what i know, i grew up in a non hunting house. There is loads of crown land to hunt on around. My buddys gps has the dnr maps on it so i can find any crown land pretty easy.

I still need to learn how to dress an animal as well. Lot if people at work has explained it to me though.

And if you have your pal and wildlife card you can go buy the tags for what you want at lots of corner stores and hardware stores or any dnr office.

What area are you in? PM me if you wish to talk more.

Im in Cheverie and have a few 20 acre lots i can hunt and they boarder 2 100 acre lots that i can hunt on but not make any stands or such.

Also viewpoint.ca's map and then put into satalite mode is awesome it shows the boundries of every single property in nova scotia. So when you find crown land you can see how big the parcel is and where its edges are
